Macaulay Culkin is being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

After wowing audiences as a child star, the 43-year-old is a well known face and name in Tinseltown.

As a result of his lasting legacy, it has been decided that he should get the 2,765th star on the legendary walkway in Los Angeles.

A ceremony will be held on December 1 and Catherine O’Hara and Natasha Lyonne will speak at the event.

Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, said in a statement: “Macaulay Culkin has been a staple in pop culture for decades.

    20th Century Fox

“He has an extensive trajectory of work but his movie, Home Alone is one of the most beloved holiday movies known the world over.

"How fitting that Catherine O’Hara who played Macaulay’s mother in the film is reuniting with her movie son and will be speaking at the ceremony!”

Culkin took a break from acting when he was in his mid-teens.

He had appeared in 13 films and five TV shows by this time, which isn't bad for a child star.

But he slowly made his comeback in the mid 2000s and was cast in the likes of Robot Chicken and Will & Grace.

Last year alone, he was a part of three TV series, The Righteous Gemstones, Entergalactic and The Paloni Show! Halloween Special!

Making it in Hollywood is tough enough, but the application to get a star on the Walk of Fame seems to be equally as difficult.

The details of the application process were previously revealed and they are surprisingly more extensive than you might think.

Being a huge superstar in the music or film business helps, but that alone isn’t enough to guarantee you a star.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame spans 1.3 miles, and each year the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce selects around 24 celebrities to be added and get their own star.

Firstly, you have to be nominated by someone and that recommendation is likely to hold more weight if it comes from someone influential.

In theory, just about anyone can apply to have a star, but it is expected that you have produced a piece of art that is in some way iconic.

Vin Di Bona, Chair of the Walk of Fame Selection Committee for 2016-2017 has said candidates must be famous for at least five years, as well as have 'unchallengeable' expertise within television, movies, radio, live theatre and music industry.

However, the honor isn’t cheap and applications carry a $30,000 sponsorship fee once accepted. Half of this money goes towards the creation of your star, while the other half goes to the Hollywood Historic Trust, which maintains the Walk of Fame.
