Lil Tay's family releases statement claiming she is alive

Breaking news

Following reports of her death, Lil Tay is apparently alive and well.

A post on the internet sensation's Instagram account claimed she had passed away, however TMZ reports they have spoken to Lil Tay and the initial Instagram statement was the result of a hack spreading 'jarring misinformation'.

The rapper's family have also released statement, claiming the star is 'safe and well'.

The statement claims the rapper was hacked.

Part of a huge hoax, an Instagram post on the rapper's official page claimed she and brother were dead.

The rapper has given a statement to TMZ, now claiming that she was the victim of a hack.

Published by TMZ, it read: “I want to make it clear that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I’m completely heartbroken, and struggling to even find the right words to say."

"It’s been a very traumatizing 24 hours. All day yesterday, I was bombarded with endless heartbreaking and tearful phone calls from loved ones all while trying to sort out this mess.

“My Instagram account was compromised by a 3rd party and used to spread jarring misinformation and rumors regarding me, to the point that even my name was wrong. My legal name is Tay Tian, not 'Claire Hope'." explained 14-year-old.

The new statement comes just 24 hours after her Instagram page announced her 'sudden' death on August 9.

A false death announcement was posted on the rapper's social media yesterday.

Bizarrely, the hoax statement claimed to be from Lil Tay's family but misnamed the social media star.

Repeatedly calling her 'Claire', the now deleted post read: “It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of our beloved Claire’s sudden and tragic passing.”

The Instagram post also alleged that her and her brother's 'death' was 'still under investigation'.

Continuing, it stated: "During this time of immense sorrow, we kindly ask for privacy as we grieve this overwhelming loss, as the circumstances surrounding Claire and her brother’s passing are still under investigation.

“Claire will forever remain in our hearts, her absence leaving an irreplaceable void that will be felt by all who knew and loved her.

Even her YouTube page did little to dispel this, with the bio being reading 'help me'.

Thankfully, it seems that Lil Tay is back in control of her Instagram which has a huge following of 3.2 million uses.

Widely known as the 'World's Youngest Flexer', the 14-year-old made a name for herself showing off her luxurious lifestyle and rapping on social media.
