Performer JoJo Siwa has spoken about her relationship with boyfriend Chris Hughes in the wake of the jaw-dropping moment when he said he was single and lives on his own.
This was news to fans of Siwa, 22, who kicked off waves of controversy and online discourse when she started dating the 32-year-old British reality TV star.
The pair met on the UK Celebrity Big Brother series in April, while Siwa was still dating partner Kath Ebbs. They insisted on the show that they were 'platonic' friends, but this soon changed when the cameras stopped rolling.
After reportedly dumping Ebbs at the wrap party, the former Dancing Moms star began seeing Hughes.

She told the Guardian just two months later: “It's not platonic any more, and it's been a beautiful development, a beautiful connection, and I'm absolutely head over heels for him and he's the same way.”

But this very public romance took a bizarre turn when Hughes, while appearing on the UK MasterChef this week, bemoaned his single status.
"So, I live on my own. I’ve been single for three years, so it’s not like I’m cooking for anyone," the former Love Island winner explained.

"If I’m just cooking for myself, no one can appreciate it, apart from me. It’s quite sad really, isn’t it? I need someone there to show off to in the kitchen, I’ve got the judges."
While this left many of JoJo's fans stunned, the actor and singer seemed to address the situation in a six month anniversary statement.
Siwa - who revealed she was rushed to hospital in 'excruciating pain' on Friday (November 28) over a burst ovarian cyst 'bleeding into her stomach' shortly before she was set to perform at a Black Friday gig - put the break-up rumors to bed.
"6 months (heart emoji), wouldn't trade one day for anything," she shared in an Instagram post to mark the occasion. "Wouldn't trade one day for anything."
Sharing a video of the pair dancing, she added that she has had a 'full heart the last six months.' Separately, she has even shared her excitement to spend Christmas in England with Chris for the first time.

While some assumed storm clouds ahead in their relationship, the true reason for Hughes declaring himself as 'single' is surprisingly simple - he was.
MasterChef was actually filmed before Celebrity Big Brother, despite being released much later in the year. This is corroborated by Siwa's 'six month' post, which implies the pair got together in May.
One fan wrote: "They announced in May that he had filmed MasterChef before Big Brother. They didn't know if it was ever actually going to air."
That last bit is likely in reference to John Torode - who appears in Hughes' MasterChef episode - being sacked from the show shortly after his former co-host Greg Wallace over allegations he used 'an extremely offensive racial term'.

In the time since their romance blossomed on UK TV, Hughes and Siwa have been spending a great deal of time with each other, with loved-up trips to Mexico and the Bahamas.
Last week, they took their relationship to the next level, doing sponsored content together for bargain clothing retailer Primark. In a post showing the pair in festive quarter-zips while enjoying the company's products at a pop-up event.
"Celebrating Our First Christmas together at Primark's Christmas House," the advert read.
