Johnny Depp says he is forever in debt to Dior for supporting him through Amber Heard case

He's appeared in a new campaign for the Sauvage fragrance in a deal 'worth $20 million'.

Johnny Depp has appeared in a new advert for Dior's Sauvage fragrance.

The brand stood by the Pirates of the Caribbean actor during his divorce from Amber Heard and subsequent defamation trial.

He has been an ambassador for the scent for nearly a decade and he says he is forever grateful for them not abandoning him when his name was being tarnished.

Speaking to GQ Middle East, he said: "I’ve been working with them for a while now. Of course, you develop a personal relationship with folks and keep close to them. They stuck with me through every single second, and that ups the stakes quite a lot for me: they trusted me, they believed in me, and they continued.

"That gesture is so noble and so rare!

"I’ve never been more touched or prouder to have had that support.

"Nobody does that, and the fact that Dior has, I thank every single person involved in making the decision to trust me and stick with me all the way from the bottom to the top and back down. I will forever be in their debt; I will forever be loyal."

He says Dior will always mean more to him 'than just Sauvage'.

Depp's new advert for the fragrance is titled 'The Call of The Blazing Sun of Sauvage Eau de Toilette'.

The 25-second clip sees him recite some poetry along with shots of a desert and beach.

"An eagle cries as it circles its prey. The blazing sun high in the ozone blue sky," he says in the advert.

"A trail of cold wind stirs a land of dry wood and stone.

"This is the call of Sauvage."

Following the highly publicized defamation trial with Amber Heard, Depp reportedly signed a contract with Dior that was very lucrative.

Variety reported that Depp was set to earn more than $20 million over three years due to the partnership.

Depp partnered up with Dior back in 2015 and the Sauvage fragrance was reportedly said to be the best-selling men's cologne on websites such as Sephora and Ulta's, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Not only that, but a report in May last year revealed a bottle of Sauvage gets sold every three seconds.

The claim was shared by Twitter user John Pompliano who cited a January 2022 article from Marie Claire where they dropped the mind-boggling stat.

He tweeted: "Despite most labels dropping Johnny Depp, @Dior decided to stick with him.

"Why?

"They sell a bottle of his fragrance 'Sauvage' every 3 seconds. At $160 a bottle, that's over $4.5 million a day in sales."
