Jessica Simpson explains why she moved her family out of Hollywood to Nashville

The singer recently opened up about the temporary move.

Jessica Simpson has revealed why she made the decision to relocate her family from Los Angeles to Nashville.

The singer decided to make the move to Nashville in Tennessee, an historic centre of music, along with her husband Eric Johnson, and their children Maxwell Drew, 11, Ace Knute, 10, and four-year-old Birdie Mae.

The family is currently renting a house out Nashville, with the Dukes of Hazzard star describing the experience of renting as 'hilarious'.

She told E! News: "I used thumbtacks to hang these $40 curtains up so I wouldn’t wake up with the sun.

“I put together a TV with a butter knife. I was looking for a screwdriver, but I went to the wrong place. I went to Walgreens, I got lip gloss instead.”

I'm sure we've all been there at some point ourselves.

However, the move is not a permanent one as the family are only in Nashville for the summer.

But it seems that the change of location has resulted in the singer getting a new lease on life as well.

“Being in Nashville, even my kids are like, ‘You laugh the whole time. You’re so happy'." Simpson said.

“It’s because I’m not on guard. I’m with a lot of like-minded people. It’s not about the celebrities — it’s really about the music and the heart and the conversation.”

For many, Simpson is well known for her music career - however, her last album, Happy Christmas, was released back in 2010.

And it also seems that the move has sparked a desire to get back to her musical roots.

Simpson and her husband Eric Johnson have three kids together, Maxwell Drew, Ace Knute and Birdie Mae.

“I’m not nervous at all, but if you were to ask me two years ago when I was talking about coming back to music, I was frightened. But now, I know exactly what I want.” she said.

Adding: “I’m building my own platform. I’m doing it for the first time — the way I would — without a label telling me I need to do this song or use this producer. It’s all me.”

And her comeback onto the music scene has been in the works for a while - 12 years, according to Simpson.

She also said that she even has 'Pinterest boards upon Pinterest boards' of ideas of potential music videos.

With 12 years to think about it, no the wonder she's built up tons of ideas.

This interview comes after Simpson opened up about the impact that fame has had on her children as well as herself, particularly regarding the amount of scrutiny she has faced when it comes to her appearance.

Last week, she told Access Hollywood: “I wish I could explain it. I wish I could say, for me, that it’s gotten better, but it still remains the same. Now my kids see me being still scrutinized, and it’s very confusing to them.

“They’re like, ‘Well, I don’t even understand this.’ Like, ‘Why don’t they just say you look pretty, Mommy? You look pretty'.”
