Gwyneth Paltrow sparks new outrage with 'disrespectful' $1,300 sex toy advent calendar

Pasta-scented candles and three-figure dice sets are also included in the holiday gift guide

Gwyneth Paltrow fans have been left divided after Goop promoted a four-figure sex toy advent calendar, with some slamming the product and the brand’s Christmas gift guide as both ‘disrespectful’ and ‘repulsive’.

Christmas is right around the corner; Mariah Carey is ‘defrosting’, Starbucks has released its festive menu, and in less than a month, the iconic Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree will be switched on.

Ahead of the 2025 festive season, 53-year-old Paltrow’s brand Goop has shared a litany of gift guides for anyone obsessed with fashion, wellness, and pleasure-seekers.

The latter, featuring everything from Finding Ferdinand Black Lip Balm and a $2,700 signet ring from Real Fine Studio, is chock-full of indulgent bath soaks, Goop’s own Sex Oil, and a luxurious dice set that’ll set you back $780.

One of the more expensive items listed on the gift guide is a kinky advent calendar from Kiki De Montparnasse.

The nine-draw gift, priced at $1,285, promises to help you unlock new ways to play and includes a bullet vibrator, a pair of gold-plated handcuff wristlets, soft nonstick PVC restraint tape, and more tantalising treats.

The inclusion of the sex toy advent calendar has raised some social media users’ hackles, with one taking to X to write: “Goop never fails to surprise Gwyneth Paltrow’s holiday guide has once again turned gift-giving into an art form of extravagance. It’s less about shopping and more about pure curiosity at what counts as a ‘holiday essential’.”

A second typed: “Advent is a religious holiday that Paltrow has now disrespected. How Hollywoodish of her. How about a Hanukkah one?? Yeah thought so.”

A third remarked: “At this point, I hear Goop and/or Gwynbo's name associated with schmex toys and things like that and I'm instantly repulsed and have zero interest in that product.”

If the sex toy advent calendar isn’t to your liking, then perhaps a $70 pasta water candle or a $1,400 ashtray may float your boat?

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time that a Goop-endorsed product has caused outrage.

Shoppers were previously quick to discover the California-based company had a candle on sale with a ‘This Smells Like My Vagina’ label.

Speaking about the backlash the viral product received, the mom-of-two said: “You know that product is so fascinating because we were messing around with different scents one day, and I smelled something and I was like, 'Oh, that smells like... You know.'”

Despite ‘joking’ about the aroma, Heretic perfumer Douglas Little apparently liked the idea.

Paltrow added: “He [Douglas] was like, ‘Oh, we should make that a candle and put it on the site.' And I thought he was kidding, and I was like, 'Yeah, definitely. That sounds like a winner right there’.”

Despite the apparent sarcasm, the vagina-scented candle appeared on the Goop website in 2020.

“I kept it on the site because there is an aspect to women's sexuality that I think we're socialized to feel a lot of shame and I sort of loved this kind of punk rock idea.”

“We are beautiful and we are awesome", the celebrity added, and, in response to the haters, she concluded: “Go f*** yourself.”

UNILAD has contacted representatives for Paltrow and Goop for comment.
