Ethan Slater officially 'files for divorce' from wife amid rumored relationship with Ariana Grande

Ethan Slater has officially filed for divorce just days after his rumoured relationship with Ariana Grande was made public.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the 31-year-old has decided to legally end things with singer Lilly Jay, filing divorce papers in New York City on Wednesday (July 26).

A reason for the divorce has not been released.

Slater and Jay started dating in 2012 when they were in high school.

They married in 2018 and welcomed a son together in January this year. They made the announcement by posting a photo of a onesie that said 'Wicked Cute'.

"Super vague post, but we have a baby now,” he captioned the post.

In November 2022, Slater posted a tribute to Jay on his Instagram for their 10-year anniversary.

“My best friend. 4 years married, 10 years together. And this is easily the best (and most *bizarre*) year yet,” he wrote.

Last week, ET Online reported that Slater had began dating his Wicked movie co-star Ariana Grande.

"Ariana and Ethan recently started dating. They have a lot in common and have a lot of fun," a source told the publication.

"They didn't start dating until both were broken up with their significant others. Ariana and Dalton remain friends."

The pair met on the set of the Wicked movie and were photographed sitting close to each other when the cast went out to celebrate Michelle Yeoh's Oscar win in London in March.

The news came after it was reported that Grande had split with her husband of two years, Dalton Gomez, in January.

“They came to the decision together,” an insider told Page Six. “They were having problems before January, but they want to remain best friends.”

Gomez reportedly visited the 'Thank U, Next' singer on the set of Wicked in a last ditch attempt to save their marriage but it 'didn't work out'.

“They’ve been really good friends throughout the entire process, and their friends and families have been trying to protect them."

“Ariana and Dalton separated in January," another source confirmed to PEOPLE last week.

"She and Ethan recently began dating."

A source told ET Online over the weekend that Jay is 'devastated' by the news her ex is dating Grande.

"This is not the future she had in mind," the source told the publication.

"She's doing her best to get back on her feet. She's incredibly smart and driven... she is truly the best mother."
