In the days following Eric Dane’s death, tributes have continued to pour in from fans, friends, and fellow stars who worked alongside the actor during his decades-long career.
The Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria star died at the age of 53 after living with ALS, less than a year after his diagnosis, of which he had spoken about openly while continuing to work.
Messages shared across social media and interviews have reflected on the impact he had both on screen and behind the scenes, especially as he made a heartbreaking final post. Many remembered him not only for his performances, but also for the way he supported others in the ALS community, even as his own health declined as his symptoms got worse. Friends and colleagues have described a deeply personal loss, with several highlighting how important his family was to him throughout his life.

Behind the emotional tributes, a GoFundMe campaign was set up by friends to help with future expenses and provide stability for his daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were often described as the centre of his world.
The fundraiser has now surpassed $131,000, boosted by a significant contribution from Euphoria director Sam Levinson and his wife Ashley, whose $27,000 donation currently stands as the campaign’s top contribution. The page shows hundreds of supporters coming together in a short space of time, reflecting the wave of support surrounding Dane’s family.
According to the fundraiser’s description, those behind the campaign wanted to create something that honoured Dane’s legacy while offering practical help for the future. It notes that he became a passionate spokesperson for the ALS community and remained committed to helping others facing the same disease, even as his own condition progressed. The GoFundMe welcomes any kind of donation, saying: "Any contribution, no matter the size, will help provide stability during this incredibly difficult time and in the future for Eric’s wonderful daughters."

Industry figures and other celebrities have continued to speak about the actor’s kindness and dedication to his craft, while fans have revisited his most memorable roles, from McSteamy on Grey’s Anatomy to Cal Jacobs in HBO’s Euphoria.
Levinson previously gave a heartfelt tribute following the news of his death, saying to Variety: “I’m heartbroken by the loss of our dear friend Eric. Working with him was an honor. Being his friend was a gift. Eric’s family is in our prayers. May his memory be for a blessing.”
