Britney Spears fans have been seeing double, apparently.
In a hilarious Instagram post, Jessica Simpson revealed that she’d been mistaken for the ‘Toxic’ singer while at a mall.
Even more awkwardly, the 43-year-old was asked to sign an autograph for the wrong name!

Whilst some A-Listers may have taken offence, it seems the Dukes of Hazzard star was able to see the funny side as she poked fun at the moment.
Laughing off the case of mistaken identity, Simpson revealed how the confused fan had approached her in a mall car park thinking she was meeting Spears.
In an Instagram post, she shared a photograph of her alongside the fan in the bright sunshine.
Writing in the caption, she added: “The face when someone in the parking lot at the mall asks you for your autograph, but expects you to sign it Britney Spears.”

Unsurprisingly, the hilarious post has gone viral and gained over 109,000 likes less than 24 hours after it was posted on the social media site.
With the pop princesses having an uncanny resemblance, many of Simpson’s 6.3 million followers have also been admitting that they have made a similar mistake in the past.
Taking to the comments, one of her followers wrote: “She posted a photo of herself a while back and noted how she looked just like you! She really did!”

Another said that it ‘can’t be the first time’, while a third joked: “Oops they did it again.”
However, not everyone was so impressed with the singer’s post.
“Hahaha come on Jess – Hit me baby one more time…”: quipped one convinced user.
Others felt that the resemblance had disappeared over time, with another writing: “Hahaha that’s so funny but Jessica you don’t look anything like her now…”

Referencing Spears’ infamous knife dance videos, which has sparked controversy in recent weeks, another wrote: I knew it was you because you didn't have knives.”
Some even accused Simpson of throwing shade, with an Instagram user pointedly commenting: "I’m honestly not here for this type of shade & from one woman to another, I truly expected so much better from you.”
Despite this, it seems Spears isn’t so opposed to people commenting on her and Simpson’s resemblance.
Last December, the ‘Break the Ice’ singer shared a photo of herself and wrote: “Why do I look EXACTLY like Jessica Simpson??? Also my face looks so pale.”

We can’t deny the similarities between the two, we are still holding out for duet from the pop princesses.
