What we know as Amber Heard announces she's welcomed twins in heartwarming post

The Aquaman star announced the arrival of her twins on Mother's Day

Amber Heard has opened up about becoming a mother 'on her own terms' amid the 'completion of the family' she's 'strived to build for years'.

Yesterday (May 11), Heard took to social media to announce the arrival of twins.

The 39-year-old Aquaman star is already mom to Oonagh Paige - who she welcomed on April 8, 2021 - and has previously spoken out about when she 'decided [she] wanted to have a child' and becoming a mom on her 'own terms'.

In a post to her Instagram she shared a photograph of the babies' feet, alongside the caption: "Mother’s Day 2025 will be one I’ll never forget.

"This year I am elated beyond words to celebrate the completion of the family I’ve strived to build for years."

She continued: "Today I officially share the news that I welcomed twins into the Heard gang."

Revealing the names of her twins, the post continued: "My daughter Agnes and my son Ocean are keeping my hands (and my heart) full.

"When I had my first baby girl Oonagh four years ago, my world changed forever. I thought I couldn’t possibly burst with more joy. Well, now I am bursting times three!!!

"Becoming a mother by myself and on my own terms despite my own fertility challenges has been the most humbling experience of my life. I am eternally grateful that I was able to choose this responsibly and thoughtfully.

"To all the moms, wherever you are today and however you got here, my dream family and I are celebrating with you. Love always, A x."

Indeed, four years ago, Heard welcomed her first child, Oonagh Paige, via surrogate.

Amber Heard's previous announcement welcoming her first child

During the announcement of her first child via surrogate in 2021, in a post to Instagram, the actor explained that four years prior she 'decided [she] wanted to have a child'.

She continued: "I wanted to do it on my own terms. I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way. I hope we arrive at a point in which it’s normalized to not want a ring in order to have a crib.

"A part of me wants to uphold that my private life is none of anyone’s business. I also get that the nature of my job compels me to take control of this."

Heard has kept much of her family life private, however, she has shared glimpses in posts to her social media.

What Amber Heard said about being a mom during Johnny Depp trial

During the defamation trial, while giving testimony on May 17, 2022, Heard stated: "I want to move on with my life. I have a baby. I have to move on. I want to move on, and I want Johnny to move on too."

After the trial ended, Heard told the Today show she was excited to 'get to be a mom' 'full time' again.

"Where I'm not having to juggle calls with lawyers," she added.

Today's Savannah Guthrie responded, asking about what Heard will tell her daughter when she's older about the trial.

While admitting she did 'do and say horrible, regrettable things throughout [the] relationship', Heard resolved of the six-week trial: "I think no matter what, it will mean something. I did the right thing. I did everything I could to stand up for myself and the truth."
