Adam Sandler stops stand-up show as audience member has medical emergency

The comedian was performing his on I Missed You tour in San Jose when he spotted the fan suffering a health issue

Footage filmed by an audience member at one of Adam Sandler's stand-up gigs shows the moment he halted his performance for a fan suffering a medical emergency.

The comedian was performing at the SAP Center in San Jose, California, on Wednesday (18 October) when he brought his gig to a halt, calling attention to one of his fans seated on the floor.

Footage from the event shows Sandler asking organizers if a medic was coming as he realized the fan was experiencing a health issue, before directing the responders to where they were seated.

"Over here guys, right down there on the left," he said into the mic. "Let's go... everything should be alright."

Sandler was met with applause from fans as he indicated he was putting the show on hold for a few moments, saying: "Let's take a few seconds. We'll just let these guys concentrate, alright? Love y'all. Be a few secs and we'll get back to it."

The person who experienced the health issue has not been identified at the time of writing (20 October), but Sandler wished them the best as they were taken out of the gig with the medics.

"We're all wishing you well there, youngster, feel better back there," he said. "Sorry about that."

Sandler then encouraged the remaining fans to make noise for the unwell person, saying: "Let's give a round of applause for that dude, hope he feels better."

The comedian was reportedly made aware of the audience member by another fan who shouted up from the crowd.

After Sandler put a stop to his set, the show was on hold for about 10 minutes as responders helped the fan in need.

Sandler has been praised for the way he responded to the situation after footage from the gig was shared on TikTok.

"Single handedly one of the most humble wholesome actors," one appreciative fan commented.

Another added: "Class. Act."

Once the situation had been dealt with appropriately, Sandler got right back to it, telling the crowd: "Alright, back to the f**king' dumbness."

The incident took place after Sandler's I Missed You tour got underway earlier this month.

Kicking things off at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Sandler is set to continue touring until mid-December as he entertains crowds in California, New York, Iowa, Tennessee and Las Vegas.

Sandler announced the news of his tour just a few weeks ago on 13 September, sharing pictures of himself on stage and writing: "Let's have some fun."
