Friends icon Matthew Perry doesn't think any of his co-stars will read his memoir.

Famously known for playing a bubbly Chandler Bing, Perry has opened up about his struggles with substance abuse in his new memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing.

The actor revealed how he spent half of his life in and out of treatment facilities and reportedly spent around $9 million (£7.77m) ‘trying to get sober’.

In a recent interview with GQ, the 53-year-old says that 'the cast is not going to really care about' his new book.

Perry famously played fictional character Chandler Bing in 10 seasons of Friends.

He said: "Why would they read it? I don't know.

"Because, you know, who cares? Addicts are going to care about this, and fans of Friends are going to care about this. But the cast is not going to really care about this."

He told the publication that those on set 'knew' he was struggling at the time.

Perry said: "Jennifer Aniston took me aside once and said, 'We know you're drinking'.

"And I said, 'How do you know?' And she said, 'We can smell it.'"

The actor also shockingly revealed that his colon exploded, which led him to spend two weeks in a life-threatening coma, and required him to be fitted with a colostomy bag for nine months.

Perry told the outlet: “I would wake up. The bag would have broken again and I had s**t all over my face, all over my body, in the bed next door. When it breaks, it breaks. You have to get nurses.”

"When I say that I woke up covered in my own s**t, I'm talking 50 to 60 times," he added.

After his colostomy bag was removed, he had to be fitted with an ileostomy bag - which he said was much worse - after complications with his surgery. Thankfully, surgery to remove this bag was a success.

“I’ve lived without it now for a long time and I’m very grateful,” he said.

Friends icon Matthew Perry sadly doesn't think his co-stars will read his memoir.

Perry also noted in his memoir that his visible weight increase throughout the ten seasons of Friends coincided with the 'trajectory' of his addiction.

He wrote: "My weight varied between 128 pounds and 225 pounds during the years of Friends.

"You can track the trajectory of my addiction if you gauge my weight from season to season — when I'm carrying weight, it's alcohol; when I'm skinny, it's pills. When I have a goatee, it's lots of pills."
