Kanye West says ex Kim Kardashian's SKIMS is 'overly sexualised' to sell products

Kanye West has hit out at ex Kim Kardashian's SKIMS products for being 'overly sexualised'.

Kanye West has criticised his ex-wife Kim Kardashian for the way advertising is done for her SKIMS shapewear line.

West said he believed the marketing for the range was 'overly sexualized' in an interview with Tucker Carlson on Fox News.

Speaking on Thursday (6 October), West said: "I had a lot of issues with the imagery or SKIMS.

"I felt like there’s a lot of imagery that was overly sexualized and things I wouldn’t want to see my wife — and definitely not my daughters — doing in the future in order to sell products.

"But it reaches another level when it’s like, 'OK, this is what my wife is doing, this is what she’s doing for our children.'"

SKIMS was founded in 2019 by Kim Kardashian and Jens Grede, but West said he helped launch the clothing brand.

He said that his own brand Yeezy and other fashion connections allowed SKIMS to be launched.

"SKIMS is based on a lot of the Yeezy ideas," he said.

"I had to use my relationships in fashion in order to establish Kim so fashionable people would say, 'I’m down to wear Kim’s line.'"

West did not stop there with his thoughts on his ex-wife, with him taking a particular disking to a picture of Kardashian on a magazine cover.

Kim was the cover of the September 2022 issue of Interview Magazine, where she posed in a jockstrap.

With beach-blonde hair and eyebrows to match, it reminded fans of the Kim's Marilyn-Monroe inspired Met Gala look.

However, West is not happy with the way his ex-wife is presented for fashion purposes.

He said: "Kim is a Christian, but she has people who want her to go to Interview and put her a** out while she’s a 40-something-year-old multimillionaire with four black children.

"And this is what — how fashion wants to — how they want to present her."

Elsewhere in the interview, West discussed the controversy of him wearing a 'White Lives Matter' t-shirt at a fashion show in Paris.

The rapper said he is not listening to all the critics: "I don’t care about what people’s response is. I care about the fact that there are more Black babies being aborted than born in New York City at this point," he said.

"That 50 per cent of Black death in America is abortion. So I really don’t care about people’s response I perform for an audience of one and that’s God."

When asked why he wore the shirt, West said "Because they do (White Lives Matter), it's the obvious thing."
