Jack Black fell in love with wife Tanya Haden in school but waited 15 years before he asked her out
Jack Black met his wife while he was at school, but it was a good 15 years before he actually worked up the courage to ask her to go out with him.
The good news is that this story has a happy ending, as Black and his wife Tanya Hader have actually been together for a long time now, getting married in 2006 and sharing two sons together.
However, it wasn’t always like that – despite the fact that they met when they were teenagers.
The pair were both students at a pretty prestigious school in Santa Monica, California called the Crossroads School.

A quick look at the previous students of that school tells you just about everything you need to know about it.
There’s a serious number of A-listers from the world of music, film, and TV that attended this school – people like Liv Tyler, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jonah Hill, Kate Hudson, Maya Rudolph, and Michael Bay.
But also, Jack Black and his now-wife Tanya Haden.
Haden is one of three triplet daughters of jazz bass player Charlie Haden, and plays in a band with her two sisters.
While the pair were at school together, they didn’t get together until they were much older, because – Black has said – he was too scared to ask her out.
In an interview with The Sun some years ago, the Shallow Hal actor admitted: “I wish I'd had more courage to ask out Tanya Haden, the woman who eventually became my wife.
“We met at school at 18 - and I wasted 15 years waiting for my chance.
"She was everything I could wish for.
“Talented, beautiful and a wonderful performer on stage.
“She was part of a band called The Haden Triplets.
“We first worked together on a student film but we did not date.
"I use to see her and her sisters perform at clubs around town.
“I would watch from the shadows, mumble some compliments, and shuffle off.
“So, I would see her only every couple of years."
In the end, despite everything, the pair did end up together, and now have two sons – Thomas and Samuel.
Black and Haden started dating in 2005, before getting married a year later in Big Sur, California.
They remain married to this day, and Jack has spoken about how he just loves spending his time with Tanya and the boys.
In an interview with GQ, he said: “I don’t want to go anywhere anyway. I like to be at home. And I like love,
“I love just hanging poolside with the boys, with Tanya and the boys. A day by the pool, that’s a nice day off.”
Well, at least it all worked out in the end for Black, once he finally picked up the courage.
