Elon Musk's first wife has spoken out against his claims their baby passed away in his arms.

The Tesla CEO rarely addresses the death of his firstborn child who he conceived with ex-partner Justine Musk, however on Monday, 21 November, Elon took to Twitter explaining his son's passing as a reason for keeping Sandy Hook conspiracy theorist Alex Jones off the social networking platform.

Elon alleged his and Justine's child 'died in [his] arms' and that he subsequently has 'no mercy for anyone who would use the deaths of children for gain, politics or fame'.

Justine has since contradicted Elon's claims.

A user responded to Musk's tweet asking whether the pair's son - named Nevada Alexander - passed away in 2002 as a result of Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

Justine tweeted back, noting it was a 'SIDS-related incident' which saw the baby placed 'on life support,' but baby Nevada Alexander was sadly later declared 'brain dead'.

Elon's first wife - with who he shares five other children with - continued: "And not that it matters to anyone except me, because it is one of the most sacred and defining moments of my life, but I was the one who was holding him."

In the comments section, another user wrote: "Dad always wants to get credits, but, that should, actually, goes to mom. I believe it is the mom who felt that last heartbeat.

"*I don't oppose Elon or anything."

Justine responded: "Not the last heartbeat. The death rattle."

Justine has previously spoken out about the passing of her and the SpaceX CEO's firstborn child.

In a personal essay featured in Marie Claire, she wrote: "Nevada went down for a nap, placed on his back as always, and stopped breathing. By the time the paramedics resuscitated him, he had been deprived of oxygen for so long that he was brain-dead.

"He spent three days on life support in a hospital in Orange County before we made the decision to take him off it. I held him in my arms when he died."
