Stardom can often times come at a price, which is why when someone so high up on the A-list speaking about it, is a breath of fresh air.

A former WWE wrestler turned actor opened up about his struggles before and after fame in a candid video to his followers, which allowed fans to get a real look inside of what it’s like to be a celebrity.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is known for his ripped physique, fun and easy-going personality, and his recent work in film.

So, when he hopped on Instagram to admit his struggles before the fame, it was refreshing to see that he was so down to earth and keeping it real.

Posting his video to his 391 million followers on Saturday (30 September), he responded to some questions from fans, about whether he sees any downsides to being famous.

‘For me, the drawbacks are — there are no drawbacks to fame,’ Johnson said in the video.

"I have been a lucky son of a b***h to have been famous for a long time, and I realize that there are no drawbacks to fame because I remember how s**t once was."

The Mummy Returns actor went on to share his struggles early in his career when he was unable to pay his rent and facing eviction.

The actor has been in the business since the 90s.

The 51-year-old talked about the struggle to get by each day and how he keeps those thoughts in the forefront of his mind to keep himself grounded and on track.

‘I always say, 'I'm a day away from being evicted again' so it keeps me hungry,’ he added.

"So, for me, there are no drawbacks to fame."

But not every actor feels that way and Johnson knows it.

He explained: "And that's OK, having a difference of opinion. It invites dialogue. It invites discussion.”

Though he doesn’t feel as though there are drawbacks, he does however miss doing normal things before becoming so recognisable.

Johnson was a WWE heavyweight six times.

He said in the clip: "I miss going to the mall, man. I miss going to the stores. Just hopping in my car and going to the grocery store, drug store, the mall, wherever.”

The former WWE heavyweight champion admitted that, although it was something he missed, when he decided to do his line of work, he ‘signed up’ for it.

Since entering the ring in 1996 to make his debut, Johnson has had a long and steady career in movies.

After landing his first role in 2001 in the Brendan Fraser franchise The Mummy, Johnson went on to play The Scorpion King, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Central Intelligence and so much more.

It’s safe to say that The Rock has kept himself humble throughout such an amazing career.
