Brooke Shields explained she has a very good reason for insisting that only one of her daughters, not both, receive her jewelry when she dies.
Veteran actress Brooke Shields didn’t hold back as she explained the reason why she plans to give her jewelry to her youngest daughter.
Not both of her daughters, mind you, just her youngest.

Speaking to Only Natural Diamonds earlier this week, she said her 19-year-old daughter Grier Henchy will inherit her collection for a pretty straight forward reason.
She joked that she ‘literally cannot do it again’ regarding the possibility of giving jewelry to her eldest, 22-year-old Rowan Henchy.
Now, while you might think this is rather harsh, Shields noted she has a pretty understandable reason.

She said that Rowan ‘has lost every piece [she’s] ever given her,’ while Grier understands the value.
She added Grier ‘understands the difference between real and ‘real’ pieces'.
So yeah, maybe this makes it a little less brutal because if you asked to even borrow something from your parents and they know you might not look after it, chances are the answer is going to be a big fat no.
Praising her daughter more for appreciating the jewlery, she continued: “It’s not about the gold or diamonds alone.

“She sees the history, the workmanship, the story behind the institution of these houses.”
Shields also revealed that she is very ‘attached to jewelry and diamonds’ and part of the reason for this is tied to her mother, who died in 2012.

Shields said: “My mom always said, ‘Buy yourself your own diamond — don’t wait to be given one from a man.

“My mom bought me my first emerald-cut diamond. It’s very beautiful, and I got it set in a Verdura cuff.
“When you’ve worked hard, you’re not waiting to be validated — you do something for yourself. There’s a sense of empowerment in that.”
Shields also recalled sweet memories she has shopping with her mother for diamonds around the world and how much it meant to her.
She said: “Ever since I was a little girl, every time we’d go somewhere, we’d find a jewelry store — if we were in Asia, it was pearls; if we were elsewhere, it was diamonds or brooches.

“Maybe it’s because she grew up in Newark during the Depression era, in poverty, and jewelry represented what she aspired to have in life.”
