A$AP Rocky charged over shooting at 'mob mate' A$AP Relli

A$AP Rocky and Relli allegedly became involved in an argument last year

A$AP Rocky has been charged after allegedly firing a gun at 'mob mate' A$AP Relli.

The rapper was arrested over two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, which related to an incident in November last year.

It's alleged that the 33-year-old, real name Rakim Mayers, fired a gun at his former friend following an argument.

Los Angeles district attorney George Gascon announced the charges in a statement to his website.

Mr Gascon said: "Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offense that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood.

"My office conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case and determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted."

He was arrested but was later let out on a $550,000 (£456,400) bail and his arraignment is set for Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center tomorrow (17 August).

According to the press release, it's claimed that Mayers and Relli, real name Terell Ephron, became involved in a disagreement on 6 November last year.

Ephron was a former member of hip hop collective A$AP Mob.

The press release states: "Mayers allegedly pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the victim.

"In a subsequent confrontation between the parties, Mayers allegedly drew the semi-automatic handgun and fired twice in the direction of the victim, prosecutors said."

Last week, it was revealed that Ephron was suing Mayers over the incident, after coming forward.

In a statement to Rolling Stone magazine, Ephron's lawyers Jamal Tooson and Brian Hurwitz said Mayers lured their client to an unknown location in Hollywood to 'discuss a disagreement between the two of them'.

They said: "Unbeknownst to Mr Ephron, A$AP Rocky was not just planning for a conversation and came armed with a semi-automatic handgun.

"After arriving at the location, a conversation ensued whereby without provocation, warning, or any justification, A$AP Rocky produced the handgun and intentionally fired multiple shots at Mr Ephron."

They added that Ephron allegedly suffered 'multiple death threats and irreparable harm to his career in the entertainment industry as a result of this incident'.

UNILAD has contacted a representative for A$AP Rocky for a comment.

This comes after police seized multiple weapons while raiding Mayer's home back in April.

The rapper was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on 20 April after flying in on his private jet.

At the tine, his lawyer, Alan Jackson, confirmed that the arrest was in relation to a shooting in November 2021.

However, police later confirmed that the weapons seized did not match the one used in that shooting.
