As Jeff Bezos is one of the richest men in the world, you can imagine it would take quite a lot of money for the average person to catch up to him.

But it's likely even more than you first thought.

Jeff Bezos has a lot of money. If you tried to picture his net worth in front of you, you’d have a tough time picturing $204 billion.

At the time of writing, he's number three on Forbes' real-time billionaires list - with Elon Musk ($269.8 billion) in pole position and Larry Ellison ($207 billion) in second.

But as internet users do, they've devised the oddest of equations to help reiterate just how wealthy the Amazon founder is.

A recent post on social media platform Reddit has got people doing the maths and the thread is appropriately named ‘r/theydidthemath’.

The post shows an old Twitter post with a woman taking a picture captioning it: "Tell me something I don’t know."

One user commented below: “If you earn $7,000 every hour of every day since the birth of Jesus Christ, you still wouldn’t be as rich as Jeff Bezos."

For years, others have shared similar social media posts, with many concluding that earning $7,000 an hour would come to around $123.8 billion dollars.

Now while people might have done the math... they are a bit off, and since Bezos hasn’t been worth such a small sum of money since around 2019, you would likely need to earn a lot more than $7,000 an hour if you wanted to even come close to catching him now.

So, you better pick up that extra shift at work if you plan on catching the billionaire anytime soon.

But I reckon even if you pulled your socks up and put your best working cap on you wouldn’t match him, I’m afraid.

And even if Bezos started doling out $1 million every single day, it's said that it would still take him around 544 years to run out of money.

In 2023, the 60-year-old tech billionaire made an estimated $7.9 million an hour - or $191.78 million per day.

He made $1.7 million in approximately 0.21 hours or about 12.76 minutes. In other words, what an average US worker earns over their entire career, Bezos earns in just under 13 minutes.

But who needs money, anyway, eh?
