Students wearing 'anti-cheating hats' they had to make has everyone saying the same thing

The creatively designed hats are supposed to stop students from peeking at one another's papers during the exam

A video shows the extreme measures taken to prevent cheating at a college in the Philippines.

When it comes to exam season, there are many ways that exam boards, schools, and colleges can tackle cheating.

Things such as scanning essays, sitting very far apart are all very useful when it comes to stopping cheating.

But this college had taken rather a creative and inventive approach to stopping students copying each others' work during their exam.

Students were sitting far apart from each other first of all.

The main thing, however, is the enormous hats that all of the students are wearing during their test.

These are designed to obscure their field of vision and stop them looking over at each other unless they turn their whole head.

And when you're wearing a big hat, it's hard to do this without being very conspicuous.

But lots of people on Reddit forum damnthatsinteresting are saying the same thing about the hats.

Many people observed that it would be easy to write answers or information inside your hat before the test.

Taking to the comments on social media, one wrote: "No peaking, but you could write notes in some of those," while another said: "How many of them have note cards taped on the inside?"

There were some very creative hats there.

A third posted: "Self constructed… creative cheating opportunities just compounded."

It's certainly something that you might wonder if you saw the hats, but then when you have something that conspicuous, it's fairly easy to take additional measures.

Surely, to prevent that they would just check inside everyone's hats for any answers before the test starts? Seems like an easy solution.

But then there's nothing to stop people writing answers on their arms, except again that's very easy for an invigilator to spot.

You could just check inside the hat.

One person pointed out a rather lovely aspect of the hats though, as it looked as though everyone there had made their own unique hat for the test.

They wrote: "I hope that those that made the best hats got extra credit on the exam."

There were some spectacular examples, including a chainsaw hat, skulls, a wedding veil, and an Ancient Greek helmet.

Stopping cheating is one thing, but perhaps the creative and colourful designs serve another softer purpose.

Exams can be very nerve-wracking as students are under a lot of pressure to perform well and get good grades.

Perhaps making everyone wear a silly hat they made themselves is a nice way to ease the tension a little in a stressful situation.
