A map of potential nuclear targets in the US has resurfaced as tensions continue to rise between some of the world's most powerful countries.

Last month, one Russian official gave a pretty alarming warning about the state of the world's global conflicts and what could happen if President Donald Trump acquires Greenland.

Dmitry Rogozin, a former deputy prime minister, ex-head of the Russian Space Agency, and once the Kremlin’s representative at NATO headquarters in Brussels, is a Russian senator.

He recently explained that he believes Trump's plans are linked to a scheme for a 'Golden Dome' missile defence system 'in which space, AI, and a layered architecture merge into a single system'.

Rogozin further explained: "Orbital sensors, ground interceptors, decision-making algorithms — all this requires advantageous geography. Greenland, with its Arctic position, proximity to Russia, and convenience for northern ICBM trajectories, fits perfectly into this architecture.

"... This is the problem: the US, led by an eccentric, may convince themselves that, finally, thanks to the annexation of Greenland and the deployment there of components of the command and control system for strategic offensive weapons, they have achieved nuclear superiority over Russia and China... This will be the beginning of the end of the world."

With tensions continuing to bubble across the globe, the map - which was shown on TV back in 2019 - is pretty eerie.

The broadcast saw the weekly news show, Vesti Nedeli, revealing a map of the US and which areas could end up being targeted.

Areas included the Pentagon, the presidential retreat located in Camp David, Maryland as well as Jim Creek, which is a naval communications base in Washington and McClellan air force base in California which closed in 2001.

Meanwhile, over in Britain, Rogozin detailed a list of 23 towns and cities across the UK, which could be high on the list of priority targets for long range strikes in the event that Russia went to war with the UK.

Putin has previously warned that Russia is 'ready' to fight should a war arise in Europe, but has explained he has no plans to.

"We're not planning to go to war with Europe, I've said that a hundred times," he explained.

"But if Europe suddenly wants to fight us and starts, we're ready right now. There can be no doubt about that."
