A new husband has been left mourning his wife after she fell from the 15th floor of her apartment block in Russia.

Ksenia Vodyanitskaya, 23, had just celebrated her marriage to her husband, Kirill, 24, when her life was tragically cut short.

Ksenia and Kirill married in a ceremony in the Russian city of St Petersburg, with close friends and a few relatives in attendance to celebrate with them.

They enjoyed a party at a restaurant afterwards, and Ksenia, who was keen on photography, shared her excitement over getting married with her friends and followers online by posting photos of the big day.

She was seen wearing a short white dress, while Kirill was dressed in a white shirt and beige trousers.

After celebrating their wedding, the newly married couple returned home to their high-rise building, where they together lived on the 15th floor.

However, what was supposed to be the happiest day of their lives turned tragic when Ksenia fell from a window in the apartment to the ground below.

Kirill called the emergency services and rushed down to find Ksenia, who sadly died in the incident.

When police arrived on the scene, Kirill denied any involvement in his wife's fall.

He was described as being 'distressed', and was not detained in the wake of the incident.

The initial police assessment indicates that Ksenia's death was a tragic accident, however, the incident is still being investigated.

According to a report from local newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets, friends who had attended the couple's wedding described them as being 'happy' on the day.

“Testimony from friends and relatives indicate that there were no serious problems in the couple's relationship," the paper explained.

“The young man sincerely loved his bride, and simply could not harm her, the friends of the deceased are certain.”

Ksenia's death came not long after she graduated from St Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine.

The bride's passing comes after another new wife passed away on her wedding day in Brazil in April, just hours after tying the knot.

Elisangela Gazano, 38, had been celebrating her big day at a rented country house in Limeira, São Paulo on 14 April.

While at the reception, Elisangela, who did not swim, reportedly slipped while dancing and fell into the pool.

Guests attempted to rescue the bride from the pool and called emergency services, but Elisangela sadly went into cardiac arrest and was declared dead on arrival at hospital.
