Iranian officials have dubbed the Israeli bombings of its state TV station a 'war crime' as a live broadcast was interrupted by an airstrike, causing the studio lights to cut out and the news anchor to flee for cover.
The two nations have been locked in a war since Friday, June 13, after Israel launched a large-scale attack on Iran's nuclear sites. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the strikes were 'a targeted military operation to roll back the Iranian threat to Israel's very survival'.
It comes as Iran has been accused of attempting to develop a nuclear warhead, mining large quantities of uranium before enriching it to 60 percent - with Iran having no purpose to enrich the material to such a high percentage.

For those unaware, natural uranium contains a percentage of roughly 0.7 percent of the isotope uranium-235, which on its own isn't usable as fuel for nuclear reactors - and needs to be enriched to 3.5 percent by removing the isotope uranium-238.

However, as previously mentioned, Iran has been producing and storing enriched uranium at 60 percent on mass - which would mean 90 percent of the work needed to enrich it to weapon-grade uranium (WGU), which is typically deemed at 90 percent.
The world powers have agreed that it would be too dangerous for Iran to possess a nuclear weapon, and even attempted to strike a deal with Iran - which President Donald Trump has been pushing for as of late.

First, let's touch on why we're here - the terrifying moment a live TV broadcast on the Islamic Republic of Iran News Network (IRINN) was interrupted yesterday afternoon (June 16).
While on air, the news anchor was forced to flee the studio as an airstrike hit the building in the Iranian capital of Tehran, after Israeli forces urged residents to evacuate the capital.
Take a look at the moment below:
The BBC reports that newsreader Sahar Emami, speaking Farsi, said: "What you noticed is the sound of a clear aggression by the Zionist regime on IRIB [Iran Republic of Iran Broadcasting]."

Media from the bombed-out capital have reported that one staff member, Masoumeh Azimi was killed in the attack, with Israeli military stating it had targeted a 'communications centre of the Iranian regime'.
Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Esmail Baqai has since condemned the 'wicked act', dubbing it a 'war crime'.
Since the initial attack on Friday, Israel and Iran have been launching airstrikes at one another, with President Trump distancing the US from the attacks.
Taking to Truth Social, he posted: "Iran should have signed the 'deal' I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!"
