A woman has given birth to a set of twins from two different fathers.

The teenager, who wished not to be named, is from the town of Mineiros in Portugal, and welcomed her two boys into the world recently.

The 19-year-old said she was stunned when DNA tests from the man she presumed to be their father came back as positive, but only for one of the children.

She explained to local media that she had previously had sex with two men on the same day.

"I remembered that I had had sex with another man and called him to take the test, which was positive," she said.

"I was surprised by the results. I didn't know this could happen and the babies are very similar."

It is thought to be the 20th case of heteroparental superfecundation ever recorded in the world.

But despite the fact the babies have different fathers, it's understood that only one of the men will be registered on the birth certificate.

The young mum added: "He takes care of both of them, helps me a lot and gives them all the necessary support that they need."

Dr Tulio Jorge Franco is an expert in the field and gave some insight into how such a pregnancy can happen.

He told G1: "It is possible to happen when two eggs from the same mother are fertilized by different men.

"The babies share the mother's genetic material, but they grow in different placentas.

"It's extremely rare. It happens one in a million. I never imagined that I would see a case like this in my life."

Only one of the dad's will be named on the birth certificate.

Adding: "The pregnancy was super smooth, without any complications. The boys were born healthy and never had health problems."

Most pregnancies are met with jubilant celebrations.

However, one woman bucked the trend with her incredibly underwhelming reaction to becoming a grandma went viral on TikTok.

The attempted surprise gone wrong was posted by @jackkiechann89, who sent her parents a scratch card which reveals a message telling them ‘you’re going to be a nanny and grandad again'.

The clip was filmed by the parents, who live in Thailand, to show their daughter their reaction, and while the dad seems over the moon, giving a thumbs up and a ‘well done’ to the camera, her mum seems decidedly less enthusiastic.

As the message is revealed, the mum’s expression doesn’t change at all, and if that didn’t make her feelings clear enough, when she’s asked if she’s happy about the news, she replies bluntly 'no'. Ouch.
