A woman discovered her ‘husband’ was actually a woman despite the pair being married for 10 months.
The Indonesian woman - named only as NA in legal papers - says she entered into a relationship with a man calling himself Ahnaf Arrafif after meeting on a dating app.
The pair hit it off and Arrafif even came to stay with NA for a week to help her take care of her ill parents.

While dating NA, the Arrafif had claimed to be a qualified neurologist who had graduated from a top university in New York - which wasn't true.
After just three months of dating, the pair got married in a nikah siri arrangement - or ‘secret wedding’ - a union that is recognised by religion but not by the law.
The couple got hitched in this way as the ‘groom’ wasn’t able to provide identity documents required for a legal wedding.

After marriage, the pair moved in with NA’s family, with the new-bride claiming to be completely unaware she had actually married a woman using a fake identity.
In reports from June last year, NA revealed she had been intimate with her ‘husband’ and that they had engaged in penetrative sex during their 10-month marriage.
When questioned about how she could not have released her ‘husband’ was a woman, she said she was told ‘not to look directly at Arrafif’s genitals’ and that her ‘eyes were covered with a cloth’ prior to any sexual activity.

She also said Arrafif would only undress when the room was pitch black, so she had never seen her ‘husband’ naked.
The woman’s identity only came to light after her mother-in-law grew suspicious about Arrafif regularly asking for money despite claiming to have a good career.
She also became wary of the fact that she had never met any of her new son-in-law’s family.

According to reports, NA’s mum became so suspicious she eventually asked Arrafif to strip off to prove he was a man, at which point the woman confessed that she was actually a woman called Erayani Arrafif and that she had lied about everything
After Arrafif made the confession, NA’s parents contacted the police where they accused her of conning them out of IDR 300 million (around $20,000), Coconuts reports.
According to the Tribun-Video, the woman was eventually charged over the falsification of her medical qualifications.
