Picture this: you’re out taking snaps with your children, making memories and celebrating cherry blossoms blooming in Washington DC.

And while you’re taking pictures, one of the most famous men in the world inadvertently gets involved. While that may sound like a dream, for one young family, it’s their reality.

Businesswoman Portia Moore and her husband Damien have recently gone viral for sharing snaps of their two children in front of Washington DC’s cherry blossoms.

The trees, positioned around the Tidal Basin, were a gift from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo City in 1912, and serve as a stunning spectacle for thousands of tourists to drink in every spring.

During their 7.30am snap session with photographer Briana Inell, Portia and Damien decided to get one of just their kids Belle, four, and Preston, one, in front of the flowering trees.

However, as their children posed together holding hands, a very familiar face could be seen taking a stroll in the early morning sunlight - and it’s fair to say the couple were gobsmacked.

“Story time! It’s the kid’s turn to take a photo together and Damien is saying something to me,” Portia wrote to her 2,208 Instagram followers. “I’m just focused on Preston not running towards the water (peak mom moment). After that shoot was done I pick Preston up and asked Damien ‘What were you saying’?”

It turns out Portia’s spouse was trying to get her attention after he noticed a former President of the United States walking behind their kids.

“He goes ‘That was President Obama who just walked by’ and looks his direction. I was like whaaaaat?! I ran to the photographer and asked her if she got the picture. She scrolls through and BOOM there is it! The perfect shot!”

And low-and-behold, Barack Obama actually is in the picture wearing a cap, sunglasses, black pants and a white shirt.

Obama has since commented on the viral post, apologising for the photobombing incident.

“Preston and Belle, I hope you enjoyed peak bloom! My bad for stepping into the shot,” the 63-year-old said, tagging mom Portia's Instagram account.

Inell has also told her side of the story, remarking that she’s used to having to deal with photobombers in her pictures.

“I just tell my clients not to worry about them because I can always just photoshop them out! I wasn’t paying attention since we all know how hard it is to photograph little ones sometimes!,” she wrote on her Instagram.

“But when my clients’ grandparents first saw all the secret service police walking behind him, and then we asked them ‘Um…was that Obama who walked by???’

“And they said yeah it was! So then I went through the photos on my camera card to see if I caught and to my surprise, I DID! And then me and my clients’ were like, ‘How do we even continue our shoot now?!??”
