US President Donald Trump has confirmed Mike Waltz will no longer be his national security adviser.
Waltz, previously a congressman from Florida's sixth congressional district, was one of Trump's first appointments after he won the 2024 election.
However, just days after the president marked his 100th day in office, Trump revealed Waltz is moving on.

In a post to Truth Social, Trump said: "I am pleased to announce that I will be nominating Mike Waltz to be the next United States Ambassador to the United Nations.
"From his time in uniform on the battlefield, in Congress and, as my National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz has worked hard to put our Nation’s Interests first. I know he will do the same in his new role.
The POTUS also announced who's set to take on the role of National Security Advisor for the 'interim'.
The post continued: "In the interim, Secretary of State Marco Rubio will serve as National Security Advisor, while continuing his strong leadership at the State Department.

"Together, we will continue to fight tirelessly to Make America, and the World, SAFE AGAIN.
"Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
The news comes after Waltz was linked to a huge security breach which involved a journalist from The Atlantic being added to a Signal group chat in which other officials discussed classified military plans for US strikes in Yemen.
Following the incident, Waltz told Fox News: "I take full responsibility. I built the group. It's embarrassing. We're going to get to the bottom of it."

Waltz remained in his position immediately after the incident, and as Trump marked his 100th day in office, Waltz was among members of his administration who praised the president for his work so far.
Speaking at the White House, he told Trump: "It's an honor to serve you in this administration."
Trump then responded: "Thank you very much Michael."

Speaking on Fox & Friends, Waltz also praised Trump's efforts to modernize the military and ensure US troops have the right equipment.
He said: "This is exactly what our modern force needs as it moves out of those protracted Middle East wars to deal with the modern warfare that we're seeing, from space to cyberspace to drones to missiles. All of those in the hands of our war-fighters now."
This morning (May 1), Waltz was seen entering the White House with news swirling about whether or not he would go another day with the same title.
With the position of national security adviser now open, one source told CNN special envoy Steve Witkoff - a real estate developer and friend of Trump - is under consideration to take over the role.
