People have admitted to being unnerved after spotting this creepy detail in a video showing the deep ocean.
The ocean is both beautiful and terrifying and there are whole lot of videos that show both aspects equally well.
But this one video certainly leans more on the scary side, and for good reason.
The video was shared on OceanX’s YouTube page way back in 2019, and has started doing the rounds again on social media.

Ocean X is a non-profit organization who have the goal of protecting the ocean and its inhabitants.
The video showcased an impressive first for the organization in that they were able to tag an animal while still in a submarine, whereas traditionally animals would need to be taken up to the surface.

The animal in question was the deep sea bluntnose sixgil shark, and when viewers saw the creature up close it was both impressive and terrifying.

The caption of the video read: “Our objective was the deep-sea #shark, the bluntnose sixgill. This ancient species predates most dinosaurs, and is a dominant predator of the deep sea ecosystem.
“The lead scientist on the mission, FSU Marine Lab's Dr. Dean Grubbs, has been the first to put a satellite tag on one of these elusive sharks, but until now had only been able to do so by bringing them up to the surface.”

The video has the scientists aboard reveling at the size and speed of the shark as it eats at the bottom of the ocean, but things got a little bit creepy when the shark came very close to the vessel and showed off a very 'human-looking' eye.
It is as chilling as its sounds and social media users commented as much.
One user wrote: “I got chills when the shark opened its eyes, never seen anything like that.”
Another wrote: “That human-like eye is unsettling me. That stare down.”

Another joked: “That side eye is pure "turn off your high beams, bro.”
While another was rather impressed and said: “The eye was absolutely incredible. Looks like an animated human eye. Super wicked!”

And another added: “If not the size, this shark's eye alone would have given me a straight heart attack.”

With a sixth person commenting: “The fact that it actually opened its eye properly to see is crazy. I can only imagine that it relies on its other senses 99% of the time as I guess that they're sufficient.”
So next time you go deep diving with sharks, don't be too alarmed if you spot a rather creepy eye.
