Donald Trump invited one of his biggest donors on stage with him during the White House’s annual Hanukkah candle-lighting on Tuesday.
While speaking to a crowd at the White House, Donald Trump praised Israeli-American philanthropist and conservative political donor Miriam Adelson and her late husband, Sheldon Adelson, for their support.
Adelson and her late husband, billionaire Sheldon Alderson, was one of the more prominent donors to Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, giving a whopping $250 million.
her on stage during the Tuesday ceremony, Trump said: “Miriam Adelson, do you want to come up here Miriam? Come up here Miriam.

“Miriam gave my campaign, indirectly and directly, $250 million, she was number one.
“When somebody can give you $250 million I think we should give her the opportunity to say hello.”
The crowd cheered as Miriam took to the podium.
She then said she had been speaking to Trump’s lawyer, Alan Dershowitz, about the potential legality of a third presidential term for Trump.

She said: “Now, I met Alan Dershowitz and he said the legal thing about four more years, and I said ‘Alan, I agree with you, so we can do it.'
“Think about it.”
She then whispered something to Trump, who spoke into the mic and told the crowd that she said he should ‘think about it, I’ll give you another $250 million’.
As Miriam left the stage, Trump then began speaking of her late husband, who died in 2021, reminiscing about their relationship.
Trump has previously hinted at considering standing for another term as president, despite the 22nd Amendment prohibiting a person from doing so. He has previously spoken of potential ‘loopholes’ but has not given much details on what this could mean in practice.
More recently, Trump clarified his position on whether he would do a third term, however.
In October, while speaking to reporters on Air Force One Trump was asked whether he would consider running to become Vice President as a backdoor route into returning to the White House.
Trump said ‘I’d be allowed to do that’ before conceding that he 'wouldn't do that'.
He added: “Yeah, I would rule that out because it’s too cute. I think the people wouldn’t like that. It’s too cute. It’s not - it wouldn’t be right."
Despite Trump’s claims, the 12th Amendment closes the VP loophole by saying that anyone ineligible to be president also can’t serve as vice president.
