Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been sentenced to more than four years in prison and handed a $500,000 fine after being convicted on prostitution-related charges.
The 55-year-old music mogul was arrested last September in New York and, following a high-profile court hearing, was found guilty of two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution under the Mann Act.
The Mann Act (1910) criminalizes transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution, debauchery, or other immoral purposes, originally aimed at combating human trafficking and exploitation.
Judge Arun Subramanian handed down a 50-month term yesterday (October 3), coming three months after he was found guilty of two of the counts.

Here's everything we know about the sentence and what it means for Diddy.

What was Diddy found guilty of?
Combs was originally indicted on a sweeping set of charges, including sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, racketeering conspiracy, and more.

However, during the trial this summer, the jury acquitted him of the more severe charges.
What remained were two convictions under the Mann Act for transporting people to engage in prostitution - each count carrying a maximum of 10 years in prison.
Central to the prosecution’s case were the so-called 'freak-offs', drug-fueled, often multi-day sex parties allegedly orchestrated by Combs, sometimes filmed, involving male sex workers and his then-girlfriends. The jury found that Combs paid participants to travel across state lines for those encounters.
Judge rejects leniency argument
Yesterday, Judge Subramanian rejected the defence’s plea for a lighter sentence, insisting that a proposed 14-month term 'would not be sufficient'.

The judge acknowledged the hardship of prison time but insisted Combs 'would still have a life afterwards'.

Despite prosecutors urging a sentence exceeding 11 years, citing the severity of Combs’ conduct and alleged danger to his accusers, the judge opted for 50 months and the half-million-dollar fine.
The sentence also includes five years of supervised release following incarceration.
What did the judge say during Diddy's sentencing?
During sentencing, Judge Subramanian addressed Combs directly and also acknowledged the victims, saying: “We heard you.”

He also criticized the defence's framing of the events as consensual and rejected that portrayal.
“A history of good works can't wash away the record in this case. You abused these women. You used that abuse to get your way, freakoffs and hotel nights,” Judge Subramanian said before he announced the sentence.
“The evidence of the abuse is massive. The drugs may have exacerbated your erratic and violent behavior over the years. However, the court has to consider all of your history here.”
What happens next?
With 13 months already served in detention, Combs is likely to face roughly three more years behind bars. He has said he intends to appeal the conviction.

The case continues to reverberate: beyond the criminal ruling, Combs faces over 50 civil lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct.
