Martha Stewart slammed for taking 'small iceberg' from Greenland to use as cocktail ice

The 82-year-old has been slated after posing with a small iceberg she took from Iceland for her cocktails.

Martha Stewart has been slated after posing with a small iceberg she took from Iceland for her cocktails.

The usually-beloved TV personality posted on social media about her recent trip to Iceland on an expedition ship, and captioned her Instagram pictures: “End of the first zodiac cruise... into a very beautiful fjord on the east coast of Greenland.

“We actually captured a small iceberg for our cocktails tonight.”

The cocktail in question was pictured in the carousel of photos, with Stewart smiling and displaying the icy drink, with the piece of iceberg sitting on a cart beside her.

Quite predictably, however, the 82-year-old's admission didn't go down all too well with fans - especially those who are passionate about the environment.

One commenter said: “I generally love Martha and the excesses of her life because she's about beautiful gardens, homes, and food. But wealthy white people drinking their iceberg cocktails while the planet is in flames is a bit tone deaf.”

Another angry user said: “So as the climate warms due to the profits of a couple thousand people, billionaires vacation to the melting icebergs, scoop them up and use them to keep their cocktails cold.”

And a third said: “Melting icebergs for a cocktail surely won't help. I'm not even going to talk about the boat you're on and how that can't be good for climate change either.”

However, reactions to her trip weren’t all bad, some people appreciated the insight into her seemingly glamorous voyage.

One wrote: “Incredible and Martha you look gorgeous as ever!!”

Another added, seemingly missing the entire point: “Love how icebergs look blue close up!! I visited some in New Zealand like that, just gorgeous!”

One user found humour in and amongst the hate, and said: “If you can’t find fresh icebergs for your cocktails, store bought is fine.”

The rest of Stewart's post featured photos of the fascinating icebergs in the ocean - you know, where they’re supposed to be, avoiding cruise cocktails!

And there was even a snap of the business woman in cold weather gear on the shipdeck.

She has been posting lots of snippets from her recent excursion, the first being pictures of a fox from inside an Icelandic volcano.

She then travelled to Sky Lagoon in the same area, before boarding the ship to travel across the Denmark Straights, which she claimed was 'a bit rough'.
