Mystery behind woman who fell to her death 20 years ago gets 'one of its biggest breakthroughs yet'

The woman fell to her death in 2004

The case of the mystery behind a woman who fell to her death some 20 years ago in London has seen a major breakthrough.

Back on October 29, 2004, the body of a young woman was found by officials at the foot of a 21-story tower block in Wembley, London.

Despite the woman dying two decades ago, she remains unidentified to this day - though investigators have continued to learn more about the mysterious case year-by-year.

A witness came forward stating he spoke to the woman the day she died, adding the woman told him she was worried about her boyfriend's health.

This allowed Investigators to conclude in the last year that the woman did have a boyfriend, while also having strong relationships with others.

"This is a major development in the investigation, and is one of the largest developments we have had in the last 20 years," Roland Hughes, from Locate International, told the Metro.

"This proves she wasn’t someone who just passed through society working temporary jobs with only surface-level friendships," Hughes added.

"Someone would have known her. We just need to find out who this is. He might have also died, but we are hoping someone who was connected with the couple at all remembers her."

Following that breakthrough, the folks at Locate International have tracked down a number of people who have worked in the office space at Wembley Point in the past.

They are increasingly confident the woman was familiar with Wembley Point and hope speaking to people who used to work there may help them find much-needed answers.

Locate International are also hoping to speak to those who worked in the offices for a shorter period of time, for example contract workers like builders and cleaners.

Hughes added to the Metro: "We feel we are getting closer and closer to finding out who this woman was.

"We have had a few promising moments, even thinking at one point that we had solved it."

People inside of Wembley Point said the woman discarded a ‘distinctive’ oil painting and a black carrier bag at a cafe in the building on the day of her death.

Witnesses state the woman smoked a cigarette after buying a coffee that day, before proceeding to climb up to a window and jumping out.

Lead of the investigation team Angela Watts told Metro: "We have a much stronger sense of who she was, smartly dressed, interested in original art, and yet also troubled about the health of someone close to her.

"We know that she had been in Wembley Point previously, and that people who spoke to her in the lift, in the corridors, in Café 21 will hold the key to confirming her identity.

"Even the smallest piece of information might just tie together all we have learnt and allow us to return her name to her.’
