Bizarre 'UFO with spinning green lights' spotted in US sky sparking mystery

The strange sighting happened in Ohio, with the UFO seeming to hover above the traffic before disappearing at warp speed

With everything that’s gone on in recent years, aliens appearing in the sky wouldn’t be that shocking.

However, it seems they already here are residents in Ohio saw bizarre lights in the night sky on Wednesday (21 June).

The 'UFO' was spotted in Middletown, with several people reportedly seeing spinning green lights up above.

In fact, one local even captured footage of the spectacle at around 10:30 pm (local time).

According to eyewitness Bryce Garrick, he’d been in the car when he noticed the strange phenomenon with the five lights moving in a circle above his vehicle.

However, it wasn’t long before they disappeared - vanishing at warp speed (see, what we did there, eh?).

Another shocked civilian, Caden Little, told local news station WCPO that it ‘was scary’ but ‘in like two seconds it was out of sight’.

He said: "It looked like something I'd never seen before at all. I had seen drones fly before and this was not like any type of drone.

"The way it moved and how fast it could take off... I've never seen anything like it."

Despite this, the Butler County Sheriff's Office reportedly didn’t receive any calls about the lights and dispatchers have no explanation for the strange sighting.

Before you get your tin foil hats at the ready, there have already been a few people questioning the mysterious footage.

In fact, Bryan Simpson, who is president of the Cincinnati Astronomical Society, has suggested the footage may be a hoax.

"I think the real test of authenticity is if you get a lot of reports of the same thing,” he said. “Otherwise it's probably fake. And by lots, I want to see at least 20 different reports.”

Simpson also suggested the video may have been staged for social media using special effects which are easily available nowadays.

"This is so easy to fake with off-the-shelf motion graphics software for TikTok likes,” he added.

Simpson says he will now investigate the strange sighting, but currently has no definitive explanation.

However, that hasn’t stopped those who want to believe - with increasing interest in UFOs after NASA's first public meeting on the subject last month.

While you shouldn’t expect little green men to show up on your doorstep anytime soon, it might be worth looking up from your phone once in a while.
