Popular streamer Amouranth found a way to earn serious cash without the need to be awake, as she let fans tune in to watch her sleep live.

Believe it or not, getting paid while you snooze is very much a thing, and on Twitch, 'sleep streams' have turned out to be surprisingly lucrative.

The 32-year-old streamer, internet personality and OnlyFans creator has reportedly pulled in huge sums simply by broadcasting herself catching some shut-eye.

Sleep streams are exactly what they sound like: viewers sit and watch someone sleep through the night - it might sound odd, but thousands of people regularly tune in.

According to Amouranth - real name Kaitlyn Siragusa - part of the appeal likely comes from the voyeuristic element that keeps viewers hooked.

Speaking on The Iced Coffee Hour podcast, the Twitch star, who now boasts more than six million followers, opened up about the many ways she’s made money over the years, from streaming to subscription platforms and business investments.

Podcast host Graham Stephan was particularly stunned by the idea of sleep streams and, after getting his head around how they worked, asked Amouranth how much she typically made each time she went live.

“If you count just on Twitch, probably like a couple thousand dollars,” she explained in the video from 2023. “But, if you count the conversions, potentially, to OnlyFans, while I’m sleeping, then maybe like $10,000-$15,000.”

The hosts were left in shock by the huge figures and asked Amouranth why she doesn’t stream herself sleeping each night. The Twitch star said scheduling issues can often make organising sleep streams difficult.

This isn’t the first time Amouranth’s sleep streams have gained widespread attention. In 2022, radio host and comedian Howard Stern was left perplexed by the concept after tuning into one of Amouranth’s streams.

After going through an introduction to Twitch, including familiarising himself with the site, Stern eventually found Amouranth’s channel.

“See, I wouldn’t watch this — one of the top Twitch streams currently is a live feed of just a hot woman sleeping,” he said to his fans. “You watch that? Is that good? What do they do?"

Before asking: "Do you think they’re really sleeping, or are they just pretending they’re asleep?

"You gotta be really hot to get dudes to pay to watch you sleep. … listen to this. Forty-four thousand people watching this woman sleep."
