Determined and experienced climbers flock to Mount Everest each year to attempt the near-impossible challenge of reaching its summit.

Located in the Himalayas, the 8,849m mammoth landmark is the Earth's highest mountain above sea level.

Due to its incredible altitude, some of those that try to climb the mountain are unfortunately killed as the weather conditions are so severe and oxygen is depleted.

However, one lucky mountaineer, who probably thought they had met their fate, was thrilled to see the friendly faces of a Sherpa rescue team when they slipped and got stuck in a deep crevice on the treacherous mountain.

The Sherpa are a Tibetan Indigenous group native to the great mountainous regions of Nepal and have saved countless lives from the dangers of the world's highest mountain.

The video, which was originally shared by Tashi Lakpa Sherpa on Instagram, shows the climber hanging on to a rope while a Sherpa digs them out of the hole to free their legs. The camera then pans up to show the sheer scale of the drop.

There's barely any room to move in the crevice with just enough space for the rescue team to stand shoulder to shoulder with the ice.

It's the worst nightmare of someone with claustrophobia, but the rescue team continue to keep a smile on their face.

The team were able to dig the man out of the snowy hole he'd been buried in.

The video then cuts to a clip of the climber being hoisted up on the rope, a voice can be heard on the walkie talkie saying: "Ok, no problem. He's coming up," before the man is slowly and carefully raised out of the crevice away from danger.

The caption of the video read: "Safe one more life on everest….

"This is incredible and extreme rescue from crevasse on Everest between camp 1 and camp 2 done ✅ by @heli.everest @iamsimonemoro @gelje_sherpa_ @gesmantamang @bennylieb @pasangnurbu14 @ Dawa sherpa and I’m happy for my leadership and coordination by myself @tashi8848.86."

The video has since been reposted to Reddit and resulted in mass amounts of praise for the Sherpas, with people acknowledging just how different things could have been if the rescue team weren't on hand to help.

The man was lifted to safety via rope.

One Reddit user commented: "Probably the most patient, professional and hardworking people in the entire world. I had the pleasure to interact with some of them in Nepal, and they were great."

Another added: "I am convinced they are some of the most bada** people on the planet. So much respect for these guys."

While third wrote: "The Sherpa are the underrated heroes of the world."

A final user noted: "All these people from around the world go flocking to Everest to climb it as a grand achievement, an achievement that the Sherpas do monthly, their entire lives. Not only do they do it, the do it sipping tea and rescuing people the whole way.

"The Sherpas are to mountain climbing what Albert Einstein was to math."
