Once regarded as the staple of adults enjoying their twilight years, cruise holidays traditionally tend to attract an older crowd.

However, in recent times, the average age of passengers has dropped dramatically, with more younger people turning to the ocean-bound liners for a dramatic getaway.

From family-friendly adventures accompanied by Disney characters, through to themed sailings that let you rub shoulders with the stars, there’s been no shortage of reasons to set sail on board a cruise ship in recent years.

One particularly popular cruise line that has captivated many is Bliss Cruises, an adults-only themed cruise for couples that offers up all things spicy to let you live out your hedonistic dreams.

For the uninitiated, setting foot on board such a risqué journey could leave you uncertain of what to expect, but luckily one pair of YouTubers, married swingers Bella and Jase over at 4ourplay, have lifted the lid on five key things they wish they had known to bring with them before embarking on one.

    Reflective sunglasses

It’s not unheard of to take sunglasses on your holiday, particularly if you intend to spend time lounging in the sun, but as Bella explained, investing in a pair of reflective sunglasses could make all the difference, especially when it comes to checking out other passengers.

“Reflective is the key here, because when you put them on, people can’t tell what you’re looking at - which makes for fantastic people watching!” she said.

    Portable color-changing lights

Ever keen to help set the vibe for any sensual shenanigans, Jase recommends investing in a set of color-changing lights to create the perfect ambience for a spicy evening.

“These things come in so handy to completely change the vibe of your room,” he explained. “They’re so awesome because they create a totally different environment. It makes it so much spicier and sensual.”

In particular, he recommended purchasing a set with built-in stands, especially for passengers hoping to turn their cabin into a 'party room'.

    Towel bands

Another item the couple swear by is towel bands - elasticated bands designed to keep towels securely attached to the chair while you take a dip in the pool.

Bella said: “You know when you have your towels outside on the pool deck and the towels will fly around because it’s so windy? Have towel bands. We have these ones, because they are super easy and portable to put away.”

The bands come in a variety of different designs and styles, but to represent their own flair and preferences, Jase and Bella opted for personalised bands adorned with their names and upside-down pineapples - a discreet symbol to show they are looking to meet other swingers.

    Portable speaker

Although the couple don’t encourage the playing of loud music on their voyages, Jase did share that one of his essentials on the trip is a portable speaker.

“Whenever you’re getting ready in your room before you go to dinner, or getting ready for a theme night - having a little bit of music that’s not too loud just sets the tone,” he said. “Also for late nights, playroom, spicy time, you can completely change how the room feels.”

Bella agreed and even admitted that the speaker came in particularly handy for inviting people back to the room.

    Door decorating

On board Bliss Cruises, one little-known gem about the experience was that all the cabin doors were customizable.

“All of the doors and walls are metal,” Bella noted. “So you can put magnets on them. Using magnets isn’t going to mess up any of the furnishings and they’re super easy to remove.”

As well as customizing a door with magnets representing the couple’s personality, Bella also explained that it can be a genius storage hack too, especially if passengers opt to use magnetic hooks to help store items.
