Expert reveals the four foods that can stop your libido from crashing

2026 New Year's resolutions are all about adding things in, not restricting and your libido will thank you

A nutritionist has spoken out about the importance of getting the right nutrients to help support your libido and which foods to get them from.

Many see New Year's resolutions as ways to remove, rid or banish habits or food items, but that can be quite reductive.

So, what about trying to see 2026 as a way to add 'healthier' choices in?

Indeed, when it comes to diet in particular, cutting things out completely or going to extreme lengths can do far more damage than good and impact other areas, including mental health but also libido.

Personal trainer and nutritionist Toby King has revealed just how much of an impact what we eat can have on our libido and the certain foods to consume more of in order to get it back on track again -or to give it a boost and start the year of the fire horse as you mean to go on.

In discussion with adult website SoloFun, King stressed how if you're not getting the right nutrients, your 'energy, hormones and your mood' can all take a hit which, in turn, impacts libido, before advising which four foods can help get you 'off the escalator' and 'pinballing' instead.

Leafy green vegetables

Broccoli, kale, spinach, salad, you name it, the humble leafy green holds a lot of power in boosting your body to its full potential.

Indeed, Healthline confirms leafy green vegetables offer 'numerous health benefits', from calming high blood pressure, reducing the risk of obesity to preventing disease, improving red blood cell production and bone health too.

Toby adds leafy greens also 'contain nutrients such as nitrates, magnesium and folate that help blood vessels relax and widen, improving circulation, supporting lubrication, sensitivity and performance' alongside overall hormonal balance and healthy testosterone.

Leafy greens also reduce inflammation, improve digestion and support your immune system - and it's not exactly like anyone likes getting under the sheets snivelling and sniffing everywhere, is it?

Nuts and seeds

You may've heard people harping on about nuts being high in fat, but that should never stop you eating them.

From almonds to hazelnuts and cashews, nuts and seeds are chock full of antioxidants which can help reduce the risk of heart disease, lowering cholesterol and also potentially helping reduce blood pressure and blood sugar levels, helping your stress levels, Healthline explains.

Less stress equals greater chances of you being in the mood to take some time away from your phone, work, laptop and other commitments and carve out some time to relax with your partner.

Toby explained: "Many people want to feel in the mood, but they just can't because they are overstimulated. Including nuts and seeds in your diet can help to support your nervous system, which allows you to switch desire back on.

"There's good evidence showing that regularly eating nuts is linked to improvements in sexual desire and orgasm quality, especially in men."

Eggs

Those little round globules of yolk and whites hold some of the secret to more stable nerve function and hormone production.

Toby explains a study has corroborated such claims too, showing men 'who eat eggs, fruit and vegetables are less aggressive than men who rarely eat these foods'.

"Eating eggs regularly in one study showed a decrease in aggressive behaviour by 60 percent, so if you are feeling angry or can't control your mood swings, try eating more eggs," he added.

Dark chocolate

Yes, you are allowed to eat chocolate and should do. In treating yourself to something yummy, you unlock - surprise, surprise - happy chemicals in your brain.

And if you're happy? Well, you'll likely be more receptive to your partner's suggestion of popping to the bedroom or wherever else you like to get frisky.

Dark chocolate also has a high cocoa content which can 'deliver antioxidants and minerals', Healthline adds which can boost brain health.

It also may help improve blood flow and we all know why that's important...

Toby notes it also can help feed your gut good bacteria which can 'regulate' your mood.

So go eat that chocolate.
