Woman who's married her own son says police are threatening to take her other kids

A woman who married her own son who is 20 years younger than her has had police threaten to take away her other kids.

Police have threatened to take a woman’s remaining children away after she married her own son.

Russian musician Aisylu Chizhevskaya Mingalim, 53, has caused an uproar in Kazan, Tatarstan Republic, Russia, after it was revealed she had married her 22-year-old adopted son Daniel Chizhevsky.

Mingalim has insisted the forbidden relationship is both legal and consensual and speaking to the local press, Mingalim defended their relationship.

“Our relationship is perfect. We can't live without each other. We are on the same wavelength,” she said.

Authorities have taken issue with the union and seized her five other adopted children.

Mingalim has a total of seven children, including her new husband. She has adopted four little girls and one other boy, as well as a biological son from an earlier marriage.

The pair tied the unconventional knot last week (October 20) in a ceremony at a restaurant in Kazan. Despite the pair hoping to start their marriage on a good note, they have been called a ‘disgrace’ to the country by those critical of their union.

When asked if the relationship was fake, the Russian woman explained that the union was legit, but more spiritual rather than physical. This detail has been lost on many of her critics, however.

“When difficult times came, I was simply afraid for Daniel,” Mingalim said, going into more detail of the nature of the relationship.

“He was created for music, not for war, but at the same time, he is at the age when young men should take up arms. I began to think about how to protect him.

“I consulted with some acquaintances and they suggested this move to me – to marry him. In an informal conversation, of course.”

Men are subject to military conscription from the age of 18 in Russia as the war with Ukraine continues.

Mingalim met Chizhevsky when he was just 13 years old. The pair met when Mingalim began teaching music in the orphanages of Kazan. The pair shared a passion for music and eventually became a duet, performing in a variety of talent shows.

Local media have reported that Mingalim became interested in adopting children after meeting orphans during a film project with Tatarstan TV station.

Despite this, Mingalim has said she feels she may need to move from her home of Tatarstan due to the backlash.

She hopes that by moving to Moscow, she, her new husband and her five adopted children can 'live freely'.
