Kamala Harris has just revealed her next career move after confirming she's not running for governor of California.
The former Democrat vice president, who represented California between 2017 to 2021 and also served as the state's attorney general for more than five years, has confirmed she will not be running for governor again.
Many voters expected Harris to run for government of California after her election loss against Donald Trump last year.
Yet, while on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Harris spoke about her new book, 107 Days, and revealed she's apparently taking a break from politics.

Colbert pointed out that Harris beat every other candidate in early polling, and asked why she has decided not to run for governor of California.
He said: "Why are you sitting this out? Are you saving yourself for a different office?”
While Harris said no, the crowd broke out into applause and cheers of 'yes'.

“It’s perhaps, is more basic than that, I am a devout public servant," Harris explained. "I have spent my entire career in service of the people.”
She confessed she'd thought 'a lot about running for governor', but ultimately decided it was time for a break - and for one good reason.
"Recently, I made the decision, at least for now, I don’t want to go back in the system, I think it’s broken," she concluded.
She reiterated her belief that the US system and our 'most fundamental principles' in democracy 'are not as strong as they need to be'.

Instead, she revealed she's going to use her time-out wisely to travel across the states, converse with people and importantly listen to them, adding that she doesn't want to appear 'transactional' when she's asking for their vote.

"At this time, I will continue serving and leading outside of elected office," Harris had announced earlier.
"I’m eager to reconnect with the American people, support Democratic candidates nationwide who are committed to bold leadership, and share more about my next steps in the months to come," she added.

Since her crushing defeat to Trump, Harris has seemingly taken a backseat, though more information has resurfaced about what transpired when former president Joe Biden stepped down to let his VP run for leadership instead.
Biden pulled out of the race by the end of July last year, mere months before the monumental general election.
The move meant Harris had a matter of weeks to organize her campaign.
Come election time, Trump gained more than 77 million votes against Harris' 75 million.
