Marjorie Taylor Greene calls for Antifa to be declared a ‘domestic terrorist organization’

Marjorie Taylor Greene has called for Antifa to be considered as domestic terrorists in the United States.

Antifa, which is the name given to people who are anti-fascist, is a typically non-violent social movement that has gained prominence in recent years.

The Republican Congresswoman made her comments after videos began to circulate of Atlanta’s planned Public Safety Training Center on fire in the wake of fierce clashes between police and protesters.

Taylor Greene said on Twitter: "Antifa are domestic terrorists and I'm introducing my resolution to officially declare them a terrorist organization on Tuesday."

And, as a result, the Republican politician is now being roasted online for her take as she has woefully misunderstood what Antifa actually is.

One Twitter user said: "Antifa isn’t a group, you moron. If it were, the majority of the US would be on the list because we are ANTI-F***KING-FASCISTS!"

Another commented, mockingly: "Are the Antifa in the room with us now?"

A third added: "Well if only they were an organization. Boebert tried this already in 2021. Duh, Marge."

And, unfortunately for Taylor Greene, they're right.

Antifa is not an organization per se, but rather a decentralized worldwide political movement that consists of hundreds of autonomous activist groups.

So it's going to be pretty hard to dub them a terrorist organization when it itself is not run by any one person.

Antifa doesn't even have its own set of rules or even beliefs, so good luck with that one.

Protesters were kicking off over 'Cop City', which is the nickname given to Atlanta's Public Safety Training Center.

Cop City will become an 85-acre compound to teach firefighters, 911 operators, and police on how to serve and protect communities.

While that sounds all well and good, Cop City plans to be built over a 300-acre forest in DeKalb County.

DeKalb County is an area that is populated mostly by Black residents, The Washington Post reports, which is one of the groups most at risk of over-policing.

Protesters have been occupying the forest in which Cop City intends to be built over.

The anti-Cop City movement has, at times, turned violent.

Most notably, one of the greatest acts of violence pertaining to the issue occured in January, when police shot and killed 26-year-old environmental activist Manuel Esteban Paez Teran while they were doing a sweep of the forest encampment occupied by protesters, The Washington Post reported at the time.

So it makes sense why the Antifa movement would rally against the over-policing of the area, as it is already happening to those making a stand for the forest the US government intends to obliterate in the name of Cop City.
