Kylie Minogue has finally spoken out on the infamous legal battle with Kylie Jenner who attempted to trademark the name 'Kylie'.

The Princess of Pop opened up about the trademark battle during an appearance on Tuesday's episode of Watch What Happens Live, after a called questioned her about the lawsuit.

Jenner first applied to trademark the name in 2014, a year after the launch of her $1billion beauty empire. However, this was opposed by the Australian singer in February 2016.

Minogue's legal team argued that the 'internationally-renowned performing artist, humanitarian and breast cancer activist' was known worldwide as Kylie.

The 54-year-old singer explained to host Andy Cohen why it was necessary to take the case to court.

She explained: “Look, when I was named Kylie, I think I met one person older me called Kylie. So it’s kind of unusual. “I’ve spent a lifetime protecting my brand and building my brand, so it was just something that had to be done.”

Cohen then high fived Kylie and yelled "Yes it did," prompting an applause from the audience.

Minogue then explained that the two Kylies reached an agreement and when asked if she had to call Kris Jenner, the star replied: "No, but I'd love to meet them."

This comes after Kylie admitted in 2018, that she was 'upset' after it was claimed she described Jenner as a 'secondary reality TV personality'.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the singer shut down claims and said: "Can you imagine me saying that?” That was just unfortunate that is how those lawyers speak."

Despite shutting down these claims, Jenner was notoriously referred as a 'secondary TV personality' in court papers.

The popstar has been known to fans as Kylie since the eighties which her team claimed is a fundamental part of her identity.

The name has already being trademarked for the singer under the service of education and entertainment.

Minogue has sold products like perfume and clothes under the name 'Kylie' and owned the domain name Kylie.com since 1996.

The legal team argued that allowing Jenner to trademark the name would cause confusion and even 'damage' Minogue's brand.

In 2017, the reality star's application was rejected by the United State' Patent and Trademark Office, marking Minogue triumphant in the legal battle.

The youngest of the KarJenner tribe has since traded under the name Kylie Cosmetics which has since become one of the biggest celebrity beauty brands of all times.

Minogue launched her own makeup range in 2019, under the name 'Kylie' just two years after the ruling against Jenner.
