When live streamers start looking to build a following, they'll do almost anything to blow up online - including literally blowing up online.

A video of a Kick streamer with a relatively small following is going viral after he stuck a metal fork in a toaster during a live stream.

In case there was any doubt about how that'd turn out, take a look here:

Yep, the small-time streamer who goes by the name 'GooseIsLoose' definitely picked up some new followers after jamming a fork into his toaster... but at what cost?

In case you missed that lesson in home safety, sticking a fork - or any metal object - into an electric appliance while it's turned on can be extremely dangerous.

During the GooseIsLoose stream, he tried to delicately scoop his waffles out of the toaster using a metal fork, and with the camera pointing his way, it's hard to believe he didn't know this was a bad idea.

After a few attempts to hit the toaster waffle from the right angle, the streamer goes right in, only to cause a mini explosion in his kitchen, blowing him across the room.

While a recording of the idiotic moment has sparked countless memes and jokes, many are lashing out at both the streamer for making such a foolish move, and Kick for allowing their creators to film such actions on their platform.

Turns out, sticking a fork in a toaster is a bad shout.

Lots of viewers couldn't believe that some people still didn't know how dangerous it was to stick a fork in a toaster - didn't any of you watch that Dumb Ways To Die video back in 2012??

"Natural selection at its finest," joked one viewer.

"What did bro think was gonna happen?," another asked.

A third exasperated viewer wondered: "Why would you ever, ever, absolutely ever do this?"

Others are convinced that the streamer GooseIsLoose knew that what he was doing was dangerous, and could have ended a lot worse, but did it anyway to boost his follower count.

One was convinced: "There's NO way he didn't know this was a bad thing."

A second cynical viewer suggested: "I guess he's trying to go viral to get his following up".

And a third added: "Anything for a bit of clout".

And for those who were worried about GooseIsLoose's wellbeing after that video - though, very few seemed concerned - he seems to be doing just fine.

After the video went viral, he shared it to his own Twitter account and joked that he needed to 'go and get a new power strip'.
