One of the lawyers who represented Johnny Depp in his defamation case against Amber Heard came to the rescue on board a plane when a man suffered a medical emergency.

Camille Vasquez was thrust into the spotlight as she helped Depp win the case, receiving more than $10 million in damages through his trial against Heard, but it isn't her skills as a lawyer that she is being celebrated for this week.

Vasquez, 37, was travelling from Los Angeles to New York on board an American Airlines flight when another passenger, identified as an elderly man, collapsed in the middle of the journey.

The man in his 70s is said to have hit his head as he fell while walking past Vasquez and her bodyguard, who were both sitting in first class. When flight attendants called for help, Vasquez and her bodyguard sprang into action and helped tend to the passenger, according to other people on the flight cited by TMZ.

Vasquez reportedly got in touch with her brother-in-law, who is a doctor, who started guiding her through the steps to check whether the man was suffering a heart attack or a brain bleed from his fall. The bodyguard used his Apple watch to monitor the passenger's heart rate, and thankfully a surgeon on board was able to come and assist the man.

A flight attendant for American Airlines, which confirmed the incident to TMZ, is said to have described Vasquez as 'wonder woman' and gifted her a bottle of Merlot and a bottle of champagne for stepping in to help.

In the wake of the incident the flight turned back to Los Angeles, where medics came on board to escort the man, who had since regained consciousness, off the plane.

UNILAD has reached out to Vasquez and American Airlines for further details about the incident.

The events earned Vasquez praise online, with Twitter users dubbing her a 'legend' and 'superwoman'. It comes after Depp appointed the lawyer to represent him in a second court case, this time relating to a personal injury lawsuit filed against him by Gregg Brooks, who worked as a location manager on Depp's film City of Lies.

Brooks has accused Depp of 'maliciously and forcefully' punching him the ribs before offering him $100,000 to punch him back in the face.

The trial is set to begin on 25 July in the Los Angeles County Superior Court following the conclusion of Depp and Heard's trial earlier this month.
