Bob's Burgers star Jay Johnston arrested and charged over his alleged role in Capitol Riots

The actor was charged by the FBI and faces four charges.

Bob’s Burgers actor Jay Johnston has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the January 6 Capitol attack.

Johnston, who has appeared in shows including Bob’s Burgers and Arrested Development, was charged by the FBI yesterday.

He faces charges of civil disorder, entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds and impeding passage through the Capitol grounds or buildings, as per court documents.

Johnston allegedly entered the Capitol through the upper west tunnel and stole a US Capitol Police shield as rioters battled with police, which was captured on CCTV and body cam footage.

The FBI had posted a photo of Johnston and asked the public to help identify him back in March 2021.

Three of the actor’s former associates informed the FBI that it was Johnston captured in the photo and also submitted text messages in which Johnston confirmed being at the Riots.

In one of the messages, Johnston penned: “The news has presented it as an attack. It actually wasn’t.

"Thought it kind of turned into that. It was a mess.

"Got maced and tear gassed and I found it quite untastic.”

The Daily Beast reported in December 2021 that the actor had been ‘banned’ from Bob’s Burgers where he voiced Jimmy Pesto Sr., Bob’s main business rival who owns a pizzeria across the street.

Earlier this week, a Long Island funeral home owner was arrested.

Peter G. Moloney has been accused of spraying insecticide at police officers and assaulting journalists, according to law enforcement, as per NBC News.

"Moloney did not simply march to the Capitol with other protestors. He brought protective eyewear, a helmet, and a can of Black Flag Wasp, Hornet & Yellow Jacket Killer," an FBI agent stated in an affidavit against Moloney.

"This indicates that he went to the Capitol on January 6, 2021, prepared for violence."

It comes after two far-right Oath Keepers members were sentenced to prison last week, as per Reuters.

In November, Kenneth Harrelson and Jessica Watkins were convicted by a federal jury in Washington, DC.

Harrelson was later sentenced to four years in prison, while the judge imposed a sentence of eight and a half years for Watkins.
