People say ASL interpreter was 'iconic' during Rihanna's Super Bowl halftime show

Rihanna's Super Bowl half-time show drew much praise, but the ASL interpreter grabbed some headlines too

After one of the classic Super Bowl games, accompanied by one of the most iconic half-time shows going, an unlikely celebrity has arisen – the ASL interpreter during Rihanna’s performance.

It turns out she put in a spirited performance herself, as you can see from the clip below:

Rihanna not only gave fans a quick-fire rundown of the greatest hits of her career, she also announced shortly after that she was pregnant with a second child, meaning she essentially used one of the biggest shows on earth to announce her baby.

Fairly iconic behaviour, by anyone’s standards.

Still, some have seen a performance that might even have overshadowed the great Ri-Ri herself.

During her medley of songs, the American Sign Language interpreter on Fox’s split-screen was going absolutely wild for the music, bopping around like nobody’s business.

Justina Miles was the woman in question, and fans have been bigging her up since the show finished.

She was DEFINITELY getting into it.

Another said: “Oh she was getting into it.”

A third commented: “We want her for Super Bowl 2024!!!!”

Anyway, it wasn’t just Rihanna’s performance, was it?

There was the small matter of the biggest game of the NFL season to take care of either side of the performance at halftime.

In the end, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs took home the Vince Lombardi Trophy after a last-minute field goal saw them take an unassailable 38-35 lead.

Mahomes and his Philadelphia Eagles counterpart Jalen Hurts made history as the first Black quarterbacks to square off in American Football’s showpiece event.

Not that it will come as much consolation to Hurts just now, though.

Despite a fantastic performance from both attacking units, it was the Chiefs who managed to get over the line, helped in part by a questionable holding call towards the very end that allowed them to run the clock down.

Hurts rushed for two touchdowns on his own, but might look back with some regret on an unforced fumble in the first half that was returned for a score by the Chiefs.

The sign language interpreter was the real MVP.

Either way, neither team truly deserved to lose a game that will go down in history as one of the greatest Super Bowl games ever.

But, there has to be a loser, and the Eagles were left to lick their wounds afterwards.

Mahomes was named as the game’s Most Valuable Player, and it’s hard to look beyond the winning QB for that award.

Although, the ASL interpreter for Rihanna’s performance ran him pretty close, in the eyes of many who were watching.
