NASA Employee’s Response To Being Asked About Ariana Grande ‘Passed The Vibe Check’
A YouTuber has gone to NASA to find out exactly what NASA scientists think of Ariana Grande's song, NASA. Because why not.
Gone are the days when songwriters could release a song and never reveal who or what exactly it was about.
Now, it's more common and easier than ever for fans to not only figure out who a song is about, but take the song to its subject and gauge a reaction, whether its Taylor Swift fans demanding Jake Gyllenhaal return a scarf to her, fans finally learning what Meatloaf meant when he said he'd do anything for love but he 'won't do that', or learning what that Harry Styles song is really about.
The latest song to get such treatment is Ariana Grande's song NASA, from her 2019 album thank u, next. Though the song isn't necessarily about the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, it certainly takes inspiration from it, with Grande modestly comparing herself to the universe and suggesting her partner is NASA, destined to explore the vastness of the cosmos. 'I'm a star, I need space,' she sings.

'Are you familiar with Ariana Grande?' begins the video.
'Vaguely,' comes the initial response. Admittedly, it's not a great start, but these astronauts are busy people so they deserve the benefit of the doubt.
The questions are being put to the NASA scientists by Michelle Khare, who underwent astronaut training with NASA in order to conquer her fear of space.
The second scientist to face the Grande question didn't fare too well either. 'I don't know if I heard that one,' she responds.
Then, however, NASA's Grande saviour arrives.
'When Ariana Grande released her song NASA...' Khare begins.
'I'm a big Ariana Grande fan,' comes the response. 'To me, this is our generation, doing incredible things, and we're going into space, and on top of that we're starting a commercial crew program, we're launching crew from the United States for the first time since 2011, which is pretty awesome.'
'The was the deepest interpretation of that song that I have heard,' Khare responds.
Viewers felt the same way: 'that guy went deeeeeeeeep,' one wrote, 'no like i’m actually in love w him,' another said, 'Yess the last guy passed the vibe check,' a third responded.
