The Warner Bros film The Flash could be shelved in light of actor Ezra Miller’s outlandish behaviour, according to new reports, though the studio is said to considering its options.

Ezra Miller has been charged with a felony burglary and has also become entangled with the Vermont child services department, who are searching for a mother and three children who were reportedly living at Miller’s farm in the state, as Rolling Stone reports.

Miller’s issues leaves the DC movie in doubt and leaves Warner Bros in a precarious position, with the film due to be released on 23 June 2023.

Warners now have three options, The Hollywood Reporter suggests. The first is that Miller receives professional help after returning home to Vermont. Miller, who uses they/them pronouns, would then do a damage limitation interview to explain their outlandish behaviour and would only be used sparingly to promote the film, the report says.

It is understood that the second option would see Warners release the film, even if Miller does not receive help. However, the actor would not have any major role in the marketing or publicity of the movie, and would not play The Flash going forward either.

However, if the current situation worsens, Warners could stop the movie completely and reshoot it using a different actor. This would be if Miller’s condition deteriorates further.

The 29-year-old is used across almost every scene in the film, playing a number of characters, and would see Warners lose $200 million if they decided to scrap the film entirely – a decision which they would no doubt want to avoid.

The Flash has already seen lengthy delays in its release after Miller was cast in the role eight years ago.

Numerous directors have come and gone before filmmaker Andy Muschietti reignited the project. Aside from Miller, the film stars Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as two different versions of Batman.

With momentum appearing to be gaining, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is keen on getting the movie over the line, along with a number of other DC films,

“We’ve seen them. We think they are terrific, and we think we can make them even better,” said Zaslav in quotes published by the Hollywood Reporter.

Miller has previously played The Flash after appearing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad in 2016, and took a lead role in Justice League the following year.
