Vin Diesel says Fast X has a cliff hanger ending that's 'never been done in Universal history'

Just when you thought they couldn't shock you anymore...

Warning: Major Fast X spoilers ahead!

If there's one thing you can expect when you see a film from the Fast and Furious franchise, it's that you're going to be blown away by the wildest, most unpredictable plots and action sequences.

And still, even with audiences prepared to expect the unexpected, Fast X has managed to leave fans in utter shock at its cliffhanger finale.

I'll try my best not to give too much of the action away, but this is your final warning that there are serious spoilers ahead!

Fast X left fans absolutely shocked - and they didn't think that was possible anymore.

Dom (Vin Diesel) is once again on an explosive mission to protect the most important thing to him - his family. This time from the most lethal, vengeful villain he has faced so far: Dante Reyes (Jason Mamoa).

As well as managing to manipulate and divide key members of Dom's extended family, Dante and his goons have kidnapped Dom's son Brian 'Little B' Marcos (Leo Abelo Perry).

Of course, Dom stops at nothing until his son is safe, but it doesn't come without a cost. Dom's brother Jakob (John Cena) winds up kicking the bucket as a suitably dramatic sacrifice.

For a short while it looks like Dom and 'Little B' might be in the clear - that is until their rescue plane is taken out by none other than Aimes (Alan Ritchson) from 'The Agency'.

Fans might have been expecting Aimes to follow the classic F&F villain arc and eventually work side by side with Dom and his team, but this guy is a bad apple through and through.

It looks like the end for Jakob.

It leaves Dom and 'Little B' in a pretty bleak position, with no choice but to drive right off the road into a dam that Dante just so happens to have rigged with explosives. It looks like the end for our hero, but before we can see his fate, the credits roll.

That is until one final FINAL scene that teases who we can expect to see challenge Dom and his crew in the next Fast film - and it was a shocker that no one saw coming.

Teaming up with Charlize Theron's Cypher and Michelle Rodriguez's Letty is none other than.... Gisele Yashar, played by the one and only Gal Gadot.

Fans of the explosive franchise probably didn't think they could be surprised anymore - but this cliff-hanger definitely threw them for a loop.

Commenting on the unexpected plot twist, Vin Diesel revealed that they had been planning a Gal Gadot return for quite some time.

"We had shot other things a long time ago, that might not have fit for that specific movie as a finale," he told Variety.

Dom has no idea what's coming.... that's if he and 'Little B' make it.

"It's a very tricky thing because you want this great talent... you have to be very careful to maintain the emotional state of your audience at the end of the movie.

"So, that's what you're juggling. We're just really lucky to have it work here."

He continued: "This is the first time we've ever released a movie where the audience has essentially said 'I see your bet and raise you.' They are walking out of the theatre - because it's a cliff-hanger - with a different kind of a... a different deal.

"When you see this movie, you know we have to deliver the conclusion. Because we've never in Universal history had a cliff-hanger like we had in this movie."

That's all well and good, Vin. But good luck topping that next time!
