The trailer for season 3 of Outer Banks has dropped

Netflix has finally dropped the trailer for season 3 of Outer Banks.

The hit teen drama is back later this month, with the Fab Five - John B (Chase Stokes), Madelyn Cline (Sarah Cameron), JJ (Rudy Pankow), Pope (Jonathan Daviss) and Kiara (Madison Bailey) - back for another one.

Check it out:

But things don't look too good for the underdog crew in their newfound utopia of 'Poguelandia'.

On the trail of the golden idol, the group finds itself being chased by Rafe (Drew Starkey) and his dad, Ward (Charles Esten).

And offering a sneak peek of what lies in store for fans, the trailer also shows Kiara (Madison Bailey) being held hostage by gang leader Carlos Singh (Andy McQueen), while John B (Chase Stokes) is reunited with dad Big John (Charles Halford).

Speaking ahead of the new series, Madelyn Cline, who plays Sarah, said the stakes are really amped up this time round.

Discussing what fans can expect, she said: "I think it’s adrenaline. It’s gonna be as exciting as ever.”

Pankow seemed to agree, adding: "There is the same kind of feeling, where it’s gonna be high-adrenaline, high-octane — but new shades."

If you can't quite remember what happened the last time we saw the group, let's have a bit of a recap.

When the second season dropped back in summer 2021, Ward was hellbent on getting revenge on John B after Sarah sided with the Pogues.

In the intense season two finale, Sarah and Ward went head-to-head as he tried to protect Sarah’s older brother Rafe (Drew Starkey) from facing the consequences of his actions.

The stakes are raised in season 3.

Rafe's anger issues and drug use spiralled out of control and he has so far managed to avoid being caught, arrested or charged for murdering Sheriff Peterkin (Adina Porter), with Ward orchestrating events to make it appear John B was responsible.

With Sarah now fully aligned with the Pogues, the group manage to escape Ward and Rafe by landing on a deserted island, which they call Poguelandia.

Last year, the tragic news was announced that Alexander Jennings, who was Chase Stokes' body double in the series, had died.

The 22-year-old was killed in a hit and run, it was confirmed at the time.

Season 3 of Outer Banks will be available to watch on Netflix from 23 February.
