Tobin Bell has officially confirmed to reprising his chilling role as John Kramer - better known as Jigsaw - for the next instalment of the Saw horror movie franchise.

Bell will return as the hideously clever horror villain despite his character being killed off in Saw III.

He has continued to appear in subsequent titles in the film series through voice recordings and flashbacks.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, so it is not yet clear how Bell will reprise his role as serial killer John Kramer.

Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures have already teased his return, so we'll have to wait and see.

They said in a joint statement, as per Collider: "The return of Bell to the franchise furthers [our] goal of a film that captures everything Saw fans love about the franchise, while also keeping them guessing with all-new traps and a new mystery to solve."

Franchise producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules echoed the studios' excitement over the return of Bell as Kramer.

In a statement issued to Variety, they said: "What a thrill to be reuniting with Tobin. His performance as John Kramer is part of the magic that made this franchise a phenomenon and his character is an active part of this film."

So get excited, folks. Because there is plenty more of blood and gore where that came from.

We can expect another edge-of-your-seat thriller as our heroes - whoever they may be - get locked in a race against time.

If you need a bit of a refresher, John Kramer - or 'Jigsaw' if that is more to your taste - was a civil engineer who survived a fight with lethal colon cancer.

Kramer decided to test others’ will to live via a series of deadly games as a way of reaffirming his own fight for life.

And, so, the Saw films were born.

The 10th horror flick in the series doesn't yet have an official title, but it is going into production later this month.

It is currently set for release on 27 October 2023.

So, the clock is ticking.

Veteran of the franchise Kevin Greutert will also be at the helm once again.

Greutert already directed Saw VI, Saw: The Final Chapter and worked on every movie including Spiral.
